***Official***Match #29 - India vs England- October 29th - Lucknow (D/N)

England has very little to lose at this point and will be a dangerous opponent if they just free-wheel it…they are quite capable of beating us, really hoping the team doesn’t come in complacent.
Seems like they came in complement. At the toss he wanted to bat first on a bowl first pitch aka challenging themselves like they've already made to the semis. They need to take each WC game seriously but doesn't seem like they are taking this one seriously

I agree, they're better than performances would indicate, problem from the off was there is nothing about the bowling outside of Topley and Rashid and when they could only take ONE kiwi wicket and conceded over 250 runs for the theoretical but not actually taken 2nd wicket the scribbling in crayon was on the wall

England performances split

Topley/Rashid : 14 wkts @ 29.57 (SR 29.71, ER 5.97)
Ali/Root/Livingstone : 3 wkts @ 78.33 (SR 83.00, ER 5.66)
rest of the quicks : 11 wkts @ 62.64 (SR 54.18, ER 6.94)

no control, can't win games if when your batting does post a defendable even if below par total the bowlers do the square root of FA

Malan/Bairstow/Brook : 475 runs @ 33.93 (SR 102.37)
Root/Stokes/Buttler : 318 runs @ 26.50 (SR 90.60)
Livingstone/Ali/Curran/Woakes : 126 runs @ 9.69 (SR 68.11)
Willey//Rashid/Atkinson/Wood/Topley : 220 runs @ 27.50 (SR 124.29)

Top order really ought to be collectively averaging 40-45 or more, tail figures look good with the two adding 70 for the 9th and last wicket vs South Africa. Livingstone 31 runs really not enough, Brook has got in four times and only passed 25 once, Buttler has scored fast most of his innings, just one 43 and 13 average the other four knocks isn't enough

If the batting had some better support/returns from the bowling then maybe they could have scored more, can't be easy to chase 400 although the Afghan chase was over before it got going, who knows how low a target it might have been but for conceding 114 for the first wicket and 43 and 44 for the 7th and 8th wickets respectively, a good 60+ runs more than they should have conceded
