Mitchell is their best player of high pace too. Have seen Conway struggle against high pace sometimes, but not Mitchell.

Can NZ really get the 2nd highest run chase in ODI history? (It'll also be the highest ever WC run chase)

I think not but well done if they do

Has Cummins ever shown this hitting ability in limited overs matches previously? Haven't really followed it closely but thought he was a bit on the stodgy side.
You would think the way that he is a clean hitter he should be able to do it more often. A bit like Wood when he hits it it stays hit so why not tee off like that every time. 30 off 15 is better at the end than a stodgy run a ball anyway.

I wouldn't call Ravindra, Phillips and Neesham attritional.

Fair chance all 3 are out caught going aerial.
Think Mitchell being the only one that's both highly destructive and very good against high pace is a better way of putting it.

You can accept Australia batting brilliantly up front, but the fact some of our bowlers (esp Phillips) battled manfully to pull Australia back only for us to repeatedly footgun ourselves is a little hard to take. Terrible catching and some bad choices with the ball - who to bowl when and what lengths to bowl.

I wasn't sure what we should do at the toss either, but by now looks a terrible choice to bowl first. We had to work out that pace was a poor choice on this wicket and took too long to do so. And the pitch has slowed a touch from earlier in the day, making pure roady strokeplay more difficult. It's still fairly flat but we've given Australia the recipe of how to bowl on it, and they won't be so generous with their catching.

Yeah it's not the right word. But out of New Zealand's best batters, Mitchell is the most destructive. Phillips and Neesham are no7s.
Yeah Mitchell is our most destructive hitter, he will need to make a big score for us to be a chance, Conway too who can be destructive if he gets in.

They are our most reliable batsmen that can score quickly and bat big, Ravindra could play that role for us too but he is still inexperienced.

Phillips and Neesham are more the icing type players who can score quickly at the back end if we can get close enough but they won't make the cake.

Hopefully Chapman isn't missed today , would have done good on a flat pitch lol

Mitchell is that highly destructive/good against high pace combination. No one else quite nails that balance in this lineup but Conway might get going.
