***Official***Match #20- England vs S Africa - October 21st - Wankhede (D/N)

Leg spin is still South Africa's kryptonite, Rashid looking like Warne in the 1999 World Cup semi final.

South Africa can hit all the shots they like

They are still going to lose this match and their panic button will set in

People are overreacting to the decision to bowl. In the ipl this year defending at wankhede was near impossible. Dew plays a massive part. That may not happen, and SA on recent form have been worse chasing, but ide prefer to chase whatever is set here with the historical conditions and heat out their.
Jos was disappointed the dew didn't come down in Delhi.

Think relying on the weather as captain is **** captaining. Backing your batters to score a lot of runs on a flat deck is a sounder strategy.

hm, not sure how relevant the IPL, a 20 over a side bash-a-thon, is to a 50 over match. Also there is a tendency for people to take the result as justification of eg declaration, decision to insert etc over what was the right decision regardless of outcome

England's batting looks somewhat thin whether batting or bowling, but they could ill afford to give the saffers a hundred head start before the captain brought on his ace, Rashid. Root is also bowling spin, but with no impact, I am no fan of Livingstone but looking at his record he is a darn site more handy than Root and Root going at near 8rpo is not really helping England

good news for England is the saffer side doesn't look any more balanced than the England side, but any side defending 240+ has a shot, England will have to hope it isn't much more than that which will likely depend on how many runs before they get into the saffer 7-11. difference here to Holland game is there's no added pressure of a bad start, saffers were 42/3 after 10.2 overs against the dutch, here they aren't far off their final total in that game with three down - under 40 to go, 24 or so overs to go to get near 300

all I can say is "give them their dew....."

Markram and Klaasen looking dangerous, they could take this game away from England if they can bat for the next 10-15 overs.

Are there any Mumbai locals on here who can give some insight into how likely it is for there to be a lot of dew around this time of year compared with IPL season?

Failing that, can we get some CCTV footage from a highway in NZ, or an update as to whether it is or isn't raining in Geelong?

exactly. I think part of it is seeing sides choose to bat, and lose, so far 100% the case in the tournament although Holland may buck the trend, and England fancy themselves as chasers, some will say "back themselves" but there are question marks over the top order although most not too justified, Bairstow has a couple of good scores, Malan 140, Root two fifties, Butthead himself may be the biggest with 43, 20 and 9, Brook disappointing with no score lower than 20 but only one above 26 (66)
