270 is a handy total to bowl with. Even though the ground is small. You’d still back SL to chase it but it’s game on for sure.

That's a much better total than the Netherlands looked like getting when Edwards was bowled and they were 6 for 91.

Even a total of 162 was looking tough to get at that stage let alone the 262 they finished with.

I wouldn't be surprised if they won this now with how shakey the Sri Lankan batting line up can be.

Really useful total in the end.
yup, thus far only four sides in the competition have scored more than 261 chasing BUT three did so successfully - NZL (vs ENG), IND (vs AFG) and of course PAK (vs SRL).... Sri Lanka are a bit less batworthy than the three who did chase, however they are the fourth side and got to 326 chasing 428, that maybe as much down to saffers taking their foot off the gas and making sure of the win ie controlling the game

agreed, came on to say, but ended up not in the previous reply, that I reckon Sri Lanka will struggle. Watched the highlights of the saffer defeat last night, decent bowling but think once saffers lost de kock and a few others got out to poor shots or simply didn't play the deliveries very well, they were gone. Not going to suggest many of the dutch are Test or top quality, but a fair number of handy players you would want as a minnow trying to mix it with and upset the best

EDIT : oh and to return to a statistical note, four teams previously opted to bat, all lost, Holland in with a chance of being the first to choose to bat AND win. First time the lankans have not won the toss, they chose to bat first twice (vs SAF and vs AUS) and lost both, this could be their first loss double - toss and game

Neither of these teams are going to be relevant to who makes the Semis but it would be beyond great to see the Netherlands grab another "big" scalp. They need to spam as many spinners on this dry wicket as they can

They've got at least three.

Englebrecht used to be a proper allrounder when he played for South Africa Under 19s but he was a chucker so I'm not sure if he still does it.

He probably wants it to happen himself, but I would be sad if NZC contract Logan van Beek or throw him a few white ball games.

He's in the domestic midfield with the likes of Doug Bracewell and Scott Kuggeleijn and isn't likely to make it imo. He's way more fun as a Netherlands player. We already ruined Rippon by picking him for like 2 games.

Not sure how much worthwhile cricket the Netherlands will actually get to play over the next couple of years with the ODI Super League scrapped.
