*Official* Match 15 - South Africa v Netherlands - October 17, Dharamsala

Glad they bowled them out.

What an amazing couple of upsets. Table looks really interesting now.
if India and kiwis beat most everyone (else) then opens up the table to whoever wins most head to heads and loses least to teams they should be

England have got their balance badly wrong IMO too many quick bowlers, a lower order that 7-11 can score some cameo 10s and 20s but in India if the ball is turning they may as well play it by numbers

8s/9s Curran, Woakes
9s/10s Willey, Rashid
10s/11s Topley, Atkinson, Wood

*in ODIs leastwise, and yes Rashid isn't a quick but the point isn't about their bowling type in the above - that's 7/15 probably shouldn't bat higher than 8-9 and 6 of them quicks IN INDIA!! Nice idea that Livingstone and Root "can bowl" handy spin, but....

Root vs
AUS 49.67
IND n/a
NZL 194.00
PAK 48.00
SAF 62.50
SRL 250.00

averages 57.00 overall with ball, ER 5.77 but 6+ vs first three, 5.33 - 5.68 the last three, yes he's bowling in India but doesn't mean a) he'll suddenly become Murali or b) players who can play spin will succumb, or indeed c) Butthead will bowl him

Livingstone has a surprisingly decent average, but 30+ against anyone he's bowled 10+ overs against, we'll see if he can translate it to success but ultimately those batsmen who can play spin may find him easier to bat against and can he stand the heat IF England reach a semi and they play Pakistan or India, or other sides

HS with bat of 28 in last five innings, is thrust into what can be a pivotal role and he needs to play longer innings than his cameos - not necessarily way slower just 20 off 22 balls and 10 off 14 isn't going to cut it when 7-11 are not great, especially in India where long handling is not going to be as effective if you can't read spin

I know it's stating the bloody obvious but with 9 games in total to play, these 2 upsets have shown that you can't really get ahead of yourself in predicting the semi finalists and how many wins will definitely be needed to get there. Australia themselves would have been sitting pretty but for 1 dropped catch in the first game.

It’s just how odis are. Anyone can have a good 10-15 over period and get on a roll and turn the odds in their favour. Every team can hit big these days as well

We went out of the T20 WC cause of a washed out game vs Zim in our first three games. Every reason to start worrying when the rain comes for us.

Seems atleast we will be spared today.
Fortunately there was no wash-out today and we got 43 overs per side

Congratulations Netherlands, wonderful performance..

I think Scott Edwards knock is the best of the tournament so far, absolutely unbelievable..

He dragged his team from 140/7 to 240/8 , to give an example of how remarkable that is , Miller got out for SA with the score on 145/7 with 12 overs to go and that felt like a hopeless situation , captains knock.

To comment on SA's performance, well it was really unprofessional ..Bowlers lack of discipline towards the back end ..Conceding 100+ to a lower order is a joke ..Aryan Dutt averages 5 and he got a 9 ball 29 or something ridiculous like that ..

The batting, Bavuma has been really ordinary at this WC, he's batted like a home track bully that is completely at sea in these conditions, he's been carried by his teammates at this WC and he needs to stand up if he wasn't captain he would be dropped next game. Some of the top order were really irresponsible but they have made runs recently (QDK, RVD) it can happen, I was pleased Miller and Klaasen tried to play their natural game and didn't get bobbed down too much, but the weak tail got exposed today ..they had no game plan when the going got tough , that last wicket stand where Maharaj was giving the strike to Ngidi at every opportunity was so damn stupid, it was by pure fluke that they somehow put on a decent stand kinda summed up the match ..Our survival instincts in matches that are close is akin to a deer in headlights ..its like they are hypnotized and can't think, this is where the coach needs to deliver a few messages in the heat of battle.
