For me this is clearly why it's a damn shame that the next world cup is only 10 teams.

Bangladesh have clearly turned a corner (or at least it seems like it) but this clearly says there isn't much between the bottom 3.

I don't why the ICC is being so stuck up about considering 12 team.

You can add Hilton Cartwright and both Ryan Higginses to your list too. A team of Zimbabwean expats would give Zimbabwe a pasting.

Lots of players retire really early and do other things as well because there's no money in it. Taibu's nine years younger than Misbah but he retired three years ago, for example.
Ah well never heard about Cartwright & Higgins before, but its crazy. I believe Taibu turned a pastor or something.

So its clear ZIM have talent, probably majority white player talent - but they need some ICC intervention to deal with whatever is the underlying issue that making so much players depart.

Indeed. The Big 3's vision to grow the sport as the power brokers in the new shameful ICC set up is highly spurious.

Afghanistan to do it again? If Zimbos lose this it'd be incredible but Afghanistan are pushing here.

what a win!

Zimbabwe constantly losing to AFghanistan here, its no fluke. They are just not as good imo. Remember they're at home here!

Williams being by far their best player in that game makes the future look even bleaker given he might not be sticking around.

They're definitely not as good in T20 cricket. I still think they're (at least) as good in ODIs though; 3-2 isn't a conclusive series victory, particularly given Zimbabwe's selectors didn't seem to be taking it all that seriously for some of those games. Zimbabwe are still much more likely to beat one of the other Test sides in an ODI than Afghanistan are IMO.

While this is true, Afghanistan pushed SL seriously hard at the world cup.

If they can produce a decent batsman or two there's nothing stopping them from consistently competing with full members.

Fair enough, I won't question you, you follow this closer than me. Losing a home series is fairly huge though.

What are the central contracts like for Afghan players? Anyone know?

Are they at risk from poaching?

Dawlat Zadran in particular would tear up county cricket, IMO.

Cribb what the hell has happened to all of Zimbabwe's bowlers? Their attacks in this series have been extremely uninspiring.

Javis and Meth went to the UK, Chatara broke his leg, Utseya got banned from bowling off breaks and then unsurprisingly got found out bowling slow-medium pies, Cremer got dropped and Rainsford figured out that becoming part of the administration paid a lot better than being snubbed by it. I think I've covered everyone you're likely to ask about other than Vitori who just isn't very good unless all the planets have aligned.
