***Official*** IPL 2024

Whatever it takes!!!
The three boundaries right at the end elevated Rohit's strike rate from 153 to 166. That's 10 more than the dreaded 156 - he must feel relieved.
Batting second, far easier conditions, shorter boundaries, easier attack to face and still only 166? Its a match losing effort going by their criteria.

M sure MI would have won had Rohit got out earlier. :p

Not sure how CSK can justify continuing to pick Mitchell in their top XI irrespective of the stupid price they paid for him.

An average of 27 & SR of 125 really isn't good enough for a specialist middle order IPL bat in 2024, SR needs to be at least 140 IMO.

Ravindra's average is even worse at 22, but at least he's striking at 166 which warrants his inclusion.

A lot of good stuff happened yesterday that shows why spreadsheet number crunching and coming to conclusions (and worse yet, strategies) does not work in cricket and are usually wrong.

Dube has developed this rep of hitting spin, so teams are not bowling their spinners when he is out there but he has ended up being ok against fast bowling and more importantly, its disrupting the regular plans of most bowling sides.

Its the same reason you dont just look at crapinfo scorecard and think a knock was not good. Just about every criticism applied to Virat's knock can be applied to Rohit's here and as I said, he actually had the much easier opportunity to make more runs faster. Neither 100 was bad, the rest of their team sucked and they lost. Its that simple. But nooooo, we gotta overcomplicate by number crunching and not understanding that the game is played between human beings and not some batting/bowling machines.

That just isn't true? Sending hardik out instead of david or shepherd caused MI'S momentum to go backwards and arguably cost them the game, and that was against the matchup. Shardul thakur bowling just before the death is as good a matchup as David could have asked for.

i hate the matchups taken to extreme too but in Dube’s case

against right arm leg spin - 76 avg+176.7 sr
against right arm orthodox - 107 avg+148.6 sr
against left arm orthodox - 46 avg+170.4 sr

against pace his avg is mostly the same but his sr drops down to a more believable 150s

can understand why teams feel reluctant to feed him spinner

and who praised Rohit’s knock in here? feels like a weird strawman thats being invented to keep a narrative fed

Ravindra is fine, avg isnt as important when you have extra batsman and bat deep like csk do

they dont have a replacement for Mitchell who they see as the Rayudu replacement like hb said. he’ll come good imo after a season but its unlikely they’ll go for him again unless they can get him cheaply

I meant their bowling when they kept hiding their spinners. Batting-wise, I think they matched up Hardik to the seamers as well, and that is why he came out. They also thought David should come in later when they are more sure they wont bowl Jaddu or Ravindra.
