Can't say I've watched much IPL. But can't be as many boom or bust performances in the competition history.

Only one score above 18 which was 100* from 54 balls. Pretty ridiculous.
The one thing that's surprised me is that having moved him up to open, seen him win them a game (something they've not found easy) with a ton, the Sunrisers then move him back to the middle order after 1 failure. Poor bloke must be a tad confused about his role in the team, but then given Lara is the coach that may not be a surprise.

RR v GT

✍Royals have been the quickest scoring team (run rate of 9.6) in the powerplay this IPL but that's alright. Titans have the most economical bowling unit (7.3 run rate) in the powerplay this IPL.
Both these teams have been best in class in other key metrics as well like scoring rate at the death: Titans on top (12) followed by Royals (11.7) and spin strength: Titans on top (15.5 balls per wicket) followed by Royals (16.2)

❤Jaiswal is yet to be dismissed by a spinner in this season. He has faced 93 balls and hit 139 runs, including seven of his 18 sixes. But don't hit him with pace just for the sake of it because he hits them right back. His balls per boundary ratio against the quicks is 3.1. If he is able to score a minimum of 25 in his next innings, he will become the third-quickest Indian to 1000 IPL runs behind Sachin Tendulkar (31) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (31)?

✍Shivam Mavi has knocked Sanju Samson over five times in 25 deliveries for 34 runs in T20 cricket. Could Titans consider using him as a super specialist, like how Sunrisers Hyderabad brought in Bipul Sharma against a right-hander-heavy RCB and he took out AB de Villiers to help them win the IPL final in 2016?

✍Titans and Royals had a thrilling finish the last time they met
Titans and Royals had a thrilling finish the last time they met
Because if Samson is able to get off to a start, he poses the single biggest threat to Titans' best bowler Rashid Khan. The Royals captain won this head-to-head handsomely in the previous game, hitting 28 runs in just nine balls. That's part of an overall head-to-head in the IPL which reads 109 runs in 92 balls for one dismissal.

?Hardik Pandya is one of the best spin-hitters in the world, but his record against Yuzvendra Chahal does not reflect it: 48 runs in 55 balls including three dismissals.0David Miller might be able to help his skipper out there though. His record against Chahal is excellent: 96 runs off 52 balls for three dismissals. If he spends a long time in the middle, he could neutralise one of Royals' key wicket-takers.

?Jos Buttler started the tournament well, scoring 204 runs in his first four matches at a strike rate of 170. But in five matches since then, he's managed only 85 runs at less than run-a-ball.
Offspin isn't supposed to work against right-handers but try telling Ashwin that. He's taken out nine of them and is the league's joint fourth-best dismisser of RHBs

Below from cricbuzz

?Shami, the leading wicket-taker this season, has picked 18 wickets in 13 outings against RR

- ?Saha has struggled against left-arm pacers this season - scoring 42 off 30 balls faced and getting out thrice.

-? Jaipur has been the spinners' ally in the two matches so far - they have picked 9 wickets in 33 overs at a strike rate of 22 and economy rate of 7.72. Pacers meanwhile have 11 wickets in 47 overs at a strike rate of 25.63 and economy rate of 8.47

there are a few fellow experienced cricket heads on the forum actually! i say this not to snitch but @Line and Length is quite the experienced cricketer, notably, and there's also @JBMAC, lucky enough to have seen bradman play up close (though that's a story he should tell ? ) but it's always great to be able to talk about cricket with people who have seen so many legends of the game come and go - glad you are enjoying retirement and getting so much time to follow the game haha

Cool, I officiated in a game involving Pooran and Motie (who is a member of my local cricket club.)

Back in December of 2010, a visiting team of under-16 players from Trinidad came to our club to play against our youngsters.

I volunteered to be an umpire and officiate in the game since all other regular umpires were off.

So the Trinidad team batted first and our guys struck early removing both openers with hardly scoring anything.
Then there was this left-handed batsman who came in and started to smash it all over the place. I’m talking about big sixes and hitting crisp shots. I had the best seat in the house. I was umpiring at both ends.

So our captain, another lefty (SLA), was doing damage with the ball when the swashbuckling batter who was smashing it was not on strike…

But,

When they did locked horns against each other, the batsman respectedour captain and played the ball on its merit

And,

Finally our captain struck the dude on his back pad, looked plumb. Everyone was appealing. Loud.

I shook my head and with a commanding voice said , Not Out

I knew at the back of my mind that he was out, but I was enjoying his batting. So not out.

Well, it was gonna last for so long. They got bowled out for 150 or thereabouts and our boys chased it down with ease.

That dude who was hitting it all over the place was Nicholas Pooran.

Our captain, the SLA, was Gudakesh Motie
