Curran has been so ****ing good this ipl, him and faf have been the only positive signs if an otherwise horrible season. And with no mega auction feel like next year won't be much different for csk.

I like the side they played yesterday, even if they ended up sucking. Maybe Faf could have taken the first over. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference.

Its all about shopping for a good opener and a good #4 for CSK IMO. And I would bat Jaddu at 5 and MSD at 6 and ask MSD to get better at finding singles and boundaries early on, can't just keep punting spinners to covers every ball. DJ Bravo may still come back strong for next season. Its basically about finding the right replacements for Bhajji and Raina. Not sure why they never thought they would have to. Letting go of folks like Jadhav, Vijay, Chawla, Raina and Bhajji should realistically give them a bigger purse. Let's see.

I keep seeing this said but his returns haven't been great until this last game. The pinch hitting experiment only half worked and he's not even bowling now. Is it just that he's shown fight and turned up at key moments, or is it more that he sticks out in a dire side?

He has mostly shown enough to see it is worth investing in him, more like.

Is it only me who just thinks of The Shamens lyric "naughty very very Naughty" whenever Nortje comes into bowl.

This is my intellectual contribution for the discourse in here.

Stats aren't out of this world but every game aside from 1/2 he's found a way to make a noticeable impact whether it be with bat or ball or both.

Someone asked what was special about Curran as his stats are not that good. Simple answer: See how he bowled that free hit ball. No ball for above waist high full toss, free hit to the big hitting Chris Morris on a slow surface, batsman expecting into the pitch cutter, bowls a full pace bouncer that hits his helmet.

A lot of intangibles but Curran is quality in every format of the game, AFAIC.

lol at CSK finally nailing their side after the league is basically done. Still not convinced by either Gaekwad or Jagadeesan but they can shop for those two roles next season and one of them was Raina anyways before. Put Thakur in there for this Monu and the side looks a lot better and a lot more balanced too, with the only genuine no hoper with the bat being Tahir who actually looked pretty ok with the bat too.

Seems we left Vihari and Pujara at home for this IPL. I wonder if Vihari would have been the ideal replacement for Raina. given he bowls some decent part time offspin too. If we get Raina back and we manage to snap up someone like Vihari I think this side will do very well it the next IPL, even if we are playing in the UAE. UAE in April is not the same as UAE in Sep-Nov.

This is basically the regular CSK side minus Watson, Raina and Harbhajan. Usually Bhajji would play for Santer giving us 3 good spinners of each variety, two of whom can bat well, Curran is doing the Bravo role with 2 Indian seamers who can bowl at the death too.

Watson
Faf
Raina
Rayudu
MSD (c) (wk)
Jadeja
Curran
Bhajji
Chahar
Thakur
Tahir

I guess this is the side they would have loved to play every game this IPL but the BTS stuff put paid to those hopes.

This has been a terrible innings from RCB, cant afford to not pick up maximum points against the minnows
Used pitch, on the same pitch that saw 126 defended. This a day game too so no dew factor - think this Is an above par score although a poor end to innings keeps CSK in it. Bowl well and we should win though with 3 spin bowling options too.

Dhoni shouldn't be in this years team let alone next years. Has too much power and influence on the others. Just having his negative attitude there makes it a bad team
I dont agree about his attitude but yes, on merit, he is a bit of a liability but he is not gonna be suddenly gone. Plus he is still miles better than the next best keeper bat we have or can pick from the Ranji scene. Still an excellent captain and keeper.
