Classic Russell. For a moment after the WC and the last game I thought he was improving but it looks like he's back to justifying his 9+ ER in T20Is.

Simmons is literally in this Mumbai squad, he played first game but has been withdrawn due to injury and been replaced by Guptil. Niall means he was unpicked last time around I think.

Buttler is so ****ing good. Those wrists are million dollar.
May have phrased that badly!

My apologies!

He went unsold initially in 2014 and was brought as a replacement for a local player back then.

In 2015 he was out of the side to make room for Finch which backfired (oversea issues), then Finch got injured and Lendl came in and gunned it like he did in 2014.

Still their now.
Nah I knew he's in the squad now, but was wondering if he went unpicked initially.

T20's pretty good for old retired spinners of decent quality isn't it. Hogg and Murali look like they can still go for a couple years and they're 45 and 43 respectively.

Nohit scoring runs in the IPL again, what a surprise... will be the same with Raina.

Didn't see the game but saw the highlights. Rohit looked sublime (as he does when he feels like) and Buttler looks like he can be a great IPL player. Is Parthiv better to have at the top as compared to Lendl Simmons? And what about Parthiv's glove-work - is it better than Buttler's?

MI seems like it will be a very successful IPL franchise - super-rich owners, huge fanbase, great coach & mentor in Ponting & Tendulkar and a good core. I'd back them as #1 or #2 favorites for the crown this season.

Guptill is a great addition to MI. Rohit and Guptill are a mouth-watering T20 opening pair. I guess all 4 of MIs foreign players are settled - Guptill, Buttler, Pollard and McClenaghan. Hard luck Southee, Corey and co.

McClenaghan. What a cameo.
MM is such an integral part of the MIs & it helps that Ponting loves him. But to be fair he looked a different class to Southee today who I very much doubt will get another game barring injury.

Now Guptill's on board the 4 overseas players for MI will likely be; Guptill, Buttler Pollard & McClenaghan with Anderson next cab off the rank.

Didn't read this before posting the previous, couldn't agree more.

Yeah Canderson is a great like for like with Pollard, or you can play both if Buttler's form dips with Partiv in as the keeper, Southee is a great like for like with McClenaghan and Guptil is a great T20 bat.

Their overseas options are fantastic and compliment the team perfectly.

Because a couple of performances in IPL seasons doesn't change the fact that Buttler/Guptil are much, much better players than him.

Whatever it takes!!!

But it is not a couple of performances.. It is consistent performances over 2 or 3 seasons backed up by a good showing in the international arena too in this part of the world. And the post he responded to was talking about picking Parthiv ahead of Simmons, which is a no brainer. Simmons easily the better batsman/opener and good value in the field.

It's just because Simmons is an ugly batsman. I used to keep him out of fantasy sides expecting him to fail at any time until the pain of the foregone points was too much to bear and I started picking him.
