A tad harsh...McCullum on "I don't want to get out and lose my spot to the great Angelo Mathews" mode.
Get this hack out and get Mathews in ASAP. Can captain too and keep.![]()

Could have something to do with the teams they play for.A tad harsh...although to be fair all the NZ players have been rank in this tournament, even Vettori's been below his usual T20 standard
He's still been awesome though. I'm not sure he'd ever have found it possible to continue to be as inconceivably good as he was before but he's still looked like arguably the best T20 bowler in the world. Malinga's the other guy with a convincing case at the moment.A tad harsh...although to be fair all the NZ players have been rank in this tournament, even Vettori's been below his usual T20 standard
At the start of IPL, I remember, you had said something like DIlshan shouldn't be played but Mahroof should. It's Dilshan won them quite a few games! Maharoof is over-rated by you. He can't come in ahead of Nannes or Vettori as a bowler and ahead of Dilshan, De Villars or Warner as a batsman. Nor is he good enough to replace any of these as an all-rounder!Their bowling lineup is too weak without their top five bowlers. Sangwan goes for lots of runs, Mishra is not a restrictive option and Yo Mahesh sprays it around. Let's not get Bhatia into this list; he's a middle-order batsman who bowls seam-up. They have to have Vettori and Nannes, and somehow get in Maharoof. They may even be missing McGrath a bit.
They may be tempted to go in with Warner, but that is a recipe for disaster. Not only are they disturbing a good (albeit misfiring) combination, they have to leave out an international bowler, and looking at the figures of Sangwan and Mishra, and Dilshan getting three overs, Delhi's not up to it. They can get back Viru when fit, then get back Vettori, but they need more runs from Manhas and the lower order than a selection change.
Indeed.Someone hasn't seen Brad Hodge play Twenty20 before?
as i said, I would suggest Warner, AB and Dilshan and pick one from Nannes, Vettori and McGrath depending up on the bowling combination. I guess Delhi needs an overseas pace bowler more than a spinner as it has quality spinner in Mishra! When Sehwag and Gambhir strike form, they can think abt playing two overseas bowlersMaharoof and Vettori quality in numbers?
I don't think they have enough depth in the bowling to handy having to have four local bowlers. They need atleast two internationals there. There is also Bhatia and Thwiry as batting options.
There's a chance that Warner and Hodge will be named after their performances here. There will be a lot of selectors from various teams reviewing their team after the IPL has proven that some players are not suited to this format regardless of reputation.Hopefully this will be enough for Hodge to be in our T20 side.
A chance? Warner's pretty much first name down on the Australian starting XI these days. There's a chance that Warner and Hodge will be named after their performances here. Abdullah looks to be SA's best seamer while that van Wyk guy might get a game before Smith or Gibbs because he can open and he hasn't failed yet.
McCullum's position would have to be in jeopardy though NZ lacks depth and none of their players have shone.
He's been a bit hit and miss though.A chance? Warner's pretty much first name down on the Australian starting XI these days.
That's the nature of the format. Either way, he's a guaranteed start in England barring serious injury. He's been a bit hit and miss though.
Maharoof is at least reliable to send down four tight overs. Like I said, Sangwan goes for far too many, and may give away a match or two. I never implied that Dilshan should be dropped, but somehow, seeing the likes of Sangwan or Bhatia (luckily not yet) or Dilshan getting smashed, they need that extra bowler. Maharoof's extra runs lower down will count. Sehwag/Dilshan bowling is too big a weakness, five specialist bowlers is a bit of a risk, and Bhatia doesn't seem to be here or there. At the start of IPL, I remember, you had said something like DIlshan shouldn't be played but Mahroof should. and if a combination is misfiring then it isn't good. as I said before you don't make a team to do well on paper but have to see how performances can be translated on the field. I get the idea of what your theories are. Play Mills instead of Duminy, Play Maharoof instead of Dilshan and whatever. But it's not going to work
Horrible T20 record and was dropped three times according to Cricinfo in the process of scoring 25. Hmm.Watch out for Sunny Sohal. Got off to a very good start.
If that's the base of your point then I have nothing more to say but I disagree .... keep dreamingMaharoof is at least reliable to send down four tight overs.
Your kidding right, why would NZ drop McCullum because he hasn't scored any runs in a joke tournment. It's probaly good he is in some bad form at the moment, hopefully he comes right by the time the 20/20 World Cup comes along. There's a chance that Warner and Hodge will be named after their performances here.
