Rahul,-----------, Hardik+Jadeja. Need to give Jadeja more opportunities at 7/8. He is improving his batting.

On the No 4 spot, it is Jadhav for now. If Pant can learn to play on slow tracks, he will definitely take it.

Whatever it takes!!!
Yeah I wont mind Jadhav moving up to 4 or 5, and if we retain MSD he can perhaps bat up at 4 and hopefully learn to play more of his shots early on, coz that is what we will miss otherwise. Just so much flux right now and not enough good players for ceratin spots. The exact opposite of our test side.

yeah from what little I've seen of Jadedja i'm surprised he's not considered an instant inclusion anywhere

his batting and bowling is becoming very consistent. I don't see why him and Ashwin can't play in the same XI anywhere, it's not like you can't still fit in 3 pacers for Australia considering they are both capable of batting top 7

Never trust Jadeja's batting in a pressure situation.

It might work on a track which is flatter (and we have had those kinds of tracks in our previous tours of all of NZ, RSA, Eng and Oz) but the problem is we have to play our 3 best seamers and Pandya may not fit in then. Which is not the worst option coz Bhuvi at 9 may still work.

India now have 4 batsman in the top 10 of the ICC rankings, is that the highest by a single team?

Well either England or Australia must have had at least 5 in 1877. :p

In modern times the 2004 Australian side (Martyn, Ponting, Hayden, Langer) and the 2011 England side (Cook, Bell, Trott, Pietersen) are equivalents I can find.

Edit: West Indies 1985 had 5 batsmen in the top 10. (Richards, Greenidge, Haynes, Gomes, Dujon).

wow and I always thought the Windies batting was in the 'good but not amazing' category back then, thought their quicks were the real match winners

guess i was wrong

surely during Waugh's reign around 2000 when they won however many in a row both Waughs, Slater, Ponting and Gilchrist made it in there? Maybe not

SA had de Villiers, Kallis, Amla and Smith in the top 10 for quite a while in 2012-13.

India came close many times and usually had 3 of Sachin/Sehwag/Dravid/VVS/Gambhir in the top 10 with the other two just outside.

Apparently Kohli averages 726 in successful chases in the last year. Not missing a decimal point here.
