Guys in India, if you shell out ₹ 50 for a month's premium account on Sony LIV, you can see even the Extra Innings analysis packages from all days of this series so far. As well as getting it live on the app and the website.

Will someone please tell this stupid overrated **** to piss off from the slips. This is ridiculous. The commentators keep saying it was a difficult chance but he made it more difficult by not staying low. It's mind boggling how he hasn't corrected this despite dropping catches so often. When we go overseas, this is going to hurt us hugely.

I know there is a lot of discussion on Kohli as a slip fielder and why he is not suited to that role. There are two things he does as a fielder that are great if you are an outfielder or at least a ring fielder but that are absolute no-nos as a slip fielder. He stands up early and tries to anticpate and goes for the ball. None of those attributes help, as a slip fielder. But at least with respect to the staying low part, I feel it is not something that will cost him in bouncier conditions like Australia or South Africa. As long as he can sort out his going for the ball instead of letting it come to him, I think he can do a decent job there.

Ideally though, if all goes well, we should have Vijay, Rahul and Ashwin as the 3 slips in that order, Rahane at gully and Pujara at short leg for the seamers. For spin, I will have Pujara and Rahul under the helmets either side, Rahane at slip, and Vijay as the gully fielder. Kohli will probably be ok as the leg slip in that situation as the anticipation part plays more of a role in that position.

What's worse is that he's a really good fielder elsewhere, so not only is he being a burden in the slips, he's also losing out on providing something extra in the covers.

You need to stay low regardless of the conditions though, HB. Soft hands cause the ball to die and its going to happen even on bouncer tracks.

Regardless, the reason I said it'll hurt overseas is because the bowlers (the spinners in particular) will create fewer chances and they just can't afford to be missed no matter what. Kohli has such hard hands too. Just doesn't seem suited for the slips. Just keep him at mid off or mid wicket.

I do not disagree. I just meant it will cost us less if he is only there for seamers when we play away from the SC or Windies. Anyways a moot point as I already pointed out what I feel will be the ideal cordon for us, no matter whee we play.

Gotta say, the SL batsmen are making a really good fist of it in tough conditions. Some of the cleanest hitting I have seen in recent times.

Going to attack while trailing by 500 is just a piss poor strategy tbh, it won't get you any more runs then the usual but will give the opposing team more time for the second digs.

Gotta enforce the follow on. No point in batting again. Turning into a bit of a farce though.

Been a pretty depressing effort from SL. The counterattack was entertaining but was never going to be sustainable. Dickwella's insanely lucky to still be batting.

As I predicted yesterday should be an easy innings victory for india, this sl team is useless. I would rank them at 9 just above zimbabwe, not sure how sl let india score 600+ on a pitch like this

Haha did he make contact? Don't think I've seen someone ever connect the scoop onto the stumps.

Yeah.. His shots against the spinners were understandable as he had given himself a few balls to see what is happening off the pitch and then formulate his plans. That shot to the first ball was something you would be ok with only in the last over of an ODI or T20 inning. Stupid stupid shot. And I don't agree with the commentators either. His earlier aggressive play does not let him off the hook for this one.
