India seriously need to do something about the 5th bowler, it's already cost them two matches. If 6 batsmen cant do the job, then dont expect 7 to do it. Pathan is now in supreme form and he's got the class, technique, and confidence to contribute consistently. There's also Dhoni who can be considered a batsman so there's absolutely no need to risk so much for a 7th specialist batsman. And like Ian Chappel said, Dravid's captaincy is the aggressive kind that requires five bowlers.
That's not the only problem the indians face. For one, what were Ganguly and Laxman doing out there? The first 15 overs were good but we were definitely too conservative. Keeping wickets in hand doesnt mean you quit taking runs. Despite whatever his intentions were, Ganguly's 51 from 110 balls probably hurt the team more than it helped IMO. Due to the amount of time wasted in the middle overs, the batsmen who followed these two were put under extreme pressure to get quick runs to make up for the slow run rate. This, as expected, led to a big collapse. If Pathan could hit the ball so well, then obviously it wasnt a pitch that required such a ridiculously cautious effort from the top order batsmen.
