RCB missing Kohli. They won't win the IPL even after Kohli joins AB though, because their bowling isn't good enough. Basically AB and Kohli both have to play every match in God-mode for them to win.

Yup. And even with them both going supersaiyan every game last season they couldn't win.

Have you read pollard's tweets, i dont know about his batting but his tweeting is definitely brainless, i had to read the tweets a few times before being able to understand what he had written and what he meant.
stop being racist

I think Cabinet is not way off the mark if he meant the best LO batsman of all time
Think he needs to win a world cup tbh, and he hasn't really delivered in the t20 side sadly.

Bangalore are also missing Rahul and Sarfraz, not what you need with Kohli gone.

I don't know how they can really save their season without relying on Kohli to go into beast mode instantly when he returns.

Punjab look improved from last year, still not totally sold on there bowlers though.

Whatever it takes!!!
I said on Twitter yesterday night.. AB is the Federer of cricket (batting).

Guy has just achieved an amazing level of batsmanship AFAIC. This does not mean he is the best batsman or anything, coz being able to get runs is what matters at the end to win/lose games, but just in terms of sheer skill and ability to play the same ball in multiple ways, all with equal chance of success etc., I have never seen a batsman as good as AB. Not even Lara, who I always thought was the best in that regard. The only reason I will still be sceptical is that he has to translate it into bigger performances in both T20 and Tests at the international level. Not that he has not had great performances yet, but can do even more I feel in those formats at the international stage.

He's definitely a genius and the comparison makes sense in that context. Both Federer and him have such amazing hands and feel that you get the impression they have so many options to play any given ball (shot in Federer's case).

It's odd to me that people would think a bloke who hides down the order is the best in the world. I get the ABDV love because when he's on song he looks like a world-beater. But he bats too low for me to consider him better than (say) Ponting or Tendulkar in 50 over cricket.

Not sure who is the GOAT at T20 cricket, though Symonds and Dhoni are both up there.

And if we're using the ability to butcher league t20 bowlers as a metric then surely Lynn has to be up there.

Well, Federer is the GOAT in Tennis because he combined the genius with the hardwork and resolve (and obviously the luck) to achieve the results. I agree that AB is not at THAT level yet but just as a genius of the game, I think the comparison is very valid.

In other words, what vcs said. :p

While I will agree that he is not necessarily better than Pointing or Tendulkar; making a snide comment that because he bats lower down the order makes him less of a player is absurd.

The position a player bats in a team can be driven by many different factors. SA for example had many quality top order players that where not natural hitters and thus did not finish the innings well, i.e. Smith, Amla Kallis until a few years ago. Thus deVillers being capable of playing all those roles was pushed lower down the order because what the SA team needed was a man coming in at 5/6 that could steady the innings occasionally and make merry when his team was put into a good position... considering he has done that particularly well; then yes he deserves the accolades he gets.

Yeah, thats why I always thought that Shane Watson is a better player tthan Brian Lara and Rahul Dravid solely on the basis that Watson won a World Cup

Symonds somewhat missed out on the era of T20, only caught the end of it. Dhoni is a great one day player, but not as effective at T20. Gayle probably the best bat looking at his career, although he's obviously tailing off a bit now.
