Wow Jadeja's strike rate this IPL must be phenomenal

EDIT: Yep, hes got a SR of 166 which is the third highest (min 100 runs)

Most number of sixes at 11, with AB and McCullum behind with 8.

Not too shabby for all the **** people gave him. Still don't want him near the ODI team though.

Haha Kallis is getting targeted with the short stuff... second time in a row he has perished to it
Shows what a joke T20 is tbh

The guy is one of the best players of the short ball ever and in the longer format it would be leave, leave followed by 4s and 6s infinitum

That's why he has one of the best test records in history

Or has a mediocre record against the best fast bowling attacks of his time. (thinking abt Aus and Eng)

Or he's just getting old.

Never knew "leaves" can amplify stroke play. You're given a bat to hit the ball,

Wut? Tendulkar is one of the best players of the short ball around mainly because of his impeccable ability to duck out of the way.. it's also why Gambhir did well in the recent tour to SA and Raina didn't.. not because Gambhir is great at the pull shot.

Nope. You actually ought to "play" the delivery to be called a great exponent of it... FYI Sachin plays the pull and the hook well.. even today. He might leave the odd one, but if that's the routine, guaranteed he'll tonk it. That's why he has a good record on the bouncy pitches of Aus.

Not saying Kallis can't pull. Maybe the chap's reflexes have slowed down. maybe it's just two freak dismissals. Maybe it's some chink nobody really gave a **** about till now.

You can get by perfectly well in Test cricket leaving the vast majority of short balls alone.. the bowler just isn't going to get out a batsman who's good at leaving the ball alone, simple as. Eventually he'll tire of it and pitch it up. And that's exactly what Sachin does, he leaves the majority well alone and only pulls occasionally. It's a perfectly legitimate way to play the short ball.

Lol, Kallis going out twice to the short ball in the IPL doesn't mean he's poor against the short ball

For the record he murdered that one to deep square leg. He just went after it.

Seems like you've not watched enough of Tendulkar there mate. I would recommend the last Aus series for you. was having SRs in the 60s there. Not exactly leave leave block stuff. Anyway the question has got nothing to do with Sachin, stop derailing it.

Jayawardene got MOM?

Strange One. Jadeja should have won it easily for mine followed by Tiwary.

Have to say Jadeja has been fantastic so far for Kochi. Performing with both bat and ball.

Not to forget the dink over the Keeper or Slips.

In the last tour of Australia he was playing that shot instead of the pull or the hook and he still uses it when there is extra bounce.
Also on slower tracks he gets inside of the line and plays the flick shot very fine of chest height and even over balls as playing conventional hook is tougher on such pitches.

But then that is why he is special and it is the adaptability that makes him special. Not fair on others to compare to him.
He is not the best hooker or puller in the world at all but still is one of the best players of the short balls and don't think he leaves most of them either.

+1 for that too.

Every good player of quality pace bowling - not just the short stuff but also the stuff that moves around - has to be adept at leaving the ball. Knowing where one's off stump is, and all that. As far as test cricket is concerned.

Yep.. forgot about the little dink over the slips. He definitely brings that into play on true, bouncy wickets.
