An interesting article,

Why England must pick Ravi Bopara for the first Test against Sri Lanka | Barney Ronay | Sport | guardian.co.uk

First part deals with glorification of Ravi Bopara for turning down a 100k offer to play in the IPL (he indeed put up his name in the auction and his base price was 200k and he was unsold - article comfortably ignores that), and calls him to be selected on this alone in the test squad ahead of Morgan.

But the second part, which talks about the mixture of foreign and domestic players in the IPL and compares with county cricket is quite interesting. The numbers are eerily similar.

How is he doing in County Cricket? Judging by the way he was batting against Herath, Murali and co. in the WC, I wouldn't be too confident that his technique will hold up against SL's spinners.

He keeps getting picked because he's always been successful in county cricket. Normally just after he's dropped - he got a double-century against Surrey just after getting dropped in 2009 and after he was dropped in 2008 (after the SL tour) he got a List A double century against Leics.

I'll be going to see Middlesex v Essex on Saturday, will hopefully see how he's looking.

I'm probably judging him on way too little evidence but he doesn't look cut out for Test cricket IMO.

Think it is about time Praveen Kumar started playing tests for India.

Could be really effective with the new ball and specially be lethal in the upcoming England tour .
Would be criminal to not pick him in English conditions.

Marginal LBW in the first over and then gives the umpire a massive piece of gold.

Matchfixing!!!!

Praveen does look a quality bowler, swings it a mile.

 @ Harshra digging into Danny for being weird.

Edit:

Chennai is such a quality lineup.

He's a commentating machine. Seems to do every over every match without a break.

The wanker. :@
I reckon it's because he is so willing to shamelessly plug the DLF maximums and Karbon Kamal catches.

Doully and Hashra is easily the best commentary team you get in the IPL. Doully has been quality for this last year or so.

Yeah, that could be it. I like Robin Jackman a lot in IPL also. Not so much in the longer formats, but he's very good in short bursts.

I think someone here got in spot on about Morrison's commentary.. tries to sound knowledgeable by using words like "poles" for wickets and "jag" for seam movement, but very little substance underneath all that. Makes me chuckle thinking of this place whenever he reaches for his jargon-book.

Yeah Jackman is pretty quality.

That said, the presentation both in commentary and how this is advertised is 1000x better than last season. This is slick and modern and quality.
