Yeah, India should go back in time and select Jaffer ahead of Gambhir in those matches for sure. However, for future matches in which Gambhir's output is not yet known, Jaffer could and IMO probably would do worse.Gambhir hasn't scored a ton in like 3 years, pretty sure Jaffer can top that. Besides, anyone who grows that sort of beard is always a gun in my books.
Ah, Manjrekar mentioned on commentary that getting bowled quite often off overpitched swinging balls around off-stump was his weakness as well.He was mainly getting out caught behind and lbw actually, but it was just the simple fact that after hitting a double hundred on a featherbed against Pakistan he went on to average 16 in his next seven Tests. Gambhir destroyed worlds for a while upon replacing him anyway so it was hardly a bad call.
Averaged 32 in the Ranji. Got to be a quota pick. Can't think of any other reason. Don't know how Pankaj Singh hasn't thrown in the towel yet.Mithun's selections is so ridiculous, btw. Even Sreesanth doesn't deserve a go here, but atleast there's some logic to it but Mithun just crops up everywhere just randomly.
Shami maybe being saved to face the Aussies in the BP11 match, but Sidarth Kaul, Ankit Rajpoot, Mohit Sharma and Pankaj Singh should be ahead of him. Don't know what the selectors see in him ?
And Dinda not being selected in all of the sides is a bit worrying too, as he maybe considered either a cert or out of contention.
Pankaj at least this year got a 150 K IPL contract. Hopefully he can impress there even though his game is more suited to Tests.Averaged 32 in the Ranji. Got to be a quota pick. Can't think of any other reason. Don't know how Pankaj Singh hasn't thrown in the towel yet.
Or not.****in Sreesanth.
Oh well, Sachin time
