*Official* India v West Indies Tests & ODIs

Well, Windies are already in dire straits in the Chennai test with Kumble taking advantage of some uneven bounce and skittling them for 167.Hooper batted superbly only to be dismissed for 35.He was looking really good against the spinners.

And Sehwag has already started blazing away, hitting three fours in one over from Pedro Collins.

This series has been disappointingly one-sided so far. I just hope the Windies show some spunk from here on and fight it out so that there is some interest left in the 1 1/2 matches to come.

We may see Pathan or Balaji in the squad to New Zealand if they have some good Ranji Matches.

Jermaine Lawson's come back well, removing Dravid and Tendulkar to leave India on a not-overly-healthy 190-5 at Close. Laxman needs to have good support from the midorder and tail as some quick WI wickets could turn this on its head.

Still say India however, WI win around 3/1.

I find the comeback from the West Indies quite pleasing - they could easily have rolled over in this game after the batting performance.

Now if they can get an early one tomorrow they're into the tail, and things may be interesting (although India should win from here)

India 301/8 (101.0 ov)
India lead by 134 runs with 2 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
J.Srinath 38 (32)
A.Kumble 4 (7)

I wouldnt know how good to rate the fight back good contribution from srinath , harbajan , patel , but the middle order look a bit shaky.... I really dont know what Laxman is doing in the team , he should really make way for someone who can perform better in the middle.

But so far the India team is looking good ON A HOME PITCH whats new ? i would have been pissed of if they lost... cause they really shouldnt...

West Indies not putting up a big fight at all , they proved very lethal at their own home...

I reckon that for the 3rd test , give Srinath and Khan a rest and bring on Pathan and maybe some other new guy that would be a good testing place , now thats only if we win the 2nd one..

Well they got the early wicket but the tail then refused to lie down.

Ramnaresh Sarwan has hit another 50 but Hooper, Chanderpaul, Gayle and Wavell Hinds haven't got the big scores that the situation needed. There's a lot on Ryan Hinds and Sarwan tomorrow. This is your time for that ton, Ramnaresh. India's day, again, WI now 9/2 at least to win now in my books..

When will Sarwan get there? Its a bit worrying...15 50s and no 100s...

Although I don't seem to have a problem with converting starts into big scores...200 up for me :D although writing is a lot easier than batting

It is all over. India has won by eight wickets, won the series 2-0 and looks like making it 3-0.

Two matches, inside of four days....its a very sorry state of affairs for WI cricket.

A strong WI is essential for cricket and its time the WI board and maybe with ICC's help, take some creative steps to help them come out of this rut through infusion of finance etc....whatever is needed to lure youngsters back into cricket in the Carribean.

Australia was in a jam in the eighties, but they always looked capable of turning things around and they sure did in grand fashion.Hopefully WI can also do the same.

Currently..I'd have to say that the West Indies are the worst touring team of the lot. Yes..even Zimbabwe are better, they pushed India in the ODI's & even beat NZ 2-1 not too long ago in NZ, plus they played several good games against Australia in the tri-series.

Its a real shame about the Windies, but I believe that the batsmen nowdays just aren't as concerned about fast bowling as they used to be. Although the current West Indies bowlers are just no way near the talent & size that the 70's/80's bowlers were.

I wouldn't go that far - they're still above ZIM and BAN.

There's a Lara-sized hole in the middle order that urgently needs filling though.

Compared to what they were earlier, that's still so pathetic.

I am afraid I can't see them coming out of this rut in the near future. There are only a few world class players in Hooper, Lara, Chanderpaul and Dillon and the rest are more or less making up the numbers. The reserve strength is non-existent. Interest in the game is on the wane there among the youngsters from all reports.

Khan out for the 3rd test and Agarkar in. That's like removing an asset and replacing it with a tried, tested and proven liability. Luckily in India, as long as Harb and Kumble plays, it shouldn't matter who the pacers are. Hopefully, Agarkar won't bowl long enough to inject some confidence into the demoralised West Indian batsmen.

*Is hoping Australia will use the same selection policy*

*Remembers that Random Guy scored first career 1st Class or List A 100 vs England this morning*

Agarkar scored his 2nd Career FC Century against England and his 1st Test Century, but it wasn't his 1st Career FC Hundred...I hope that cheers you up :)

If you mean Kade Harvey then yes it is a bit depressing as he hasn't even scored a 50 in OD games so far...but I don't think its been counted as an official score as his profile doesn't show it...either thats Cricinfo being slow or it just didn't count...

Unfortunately for Ajit, he won't be facing bowlers of the calibre of the one he faced in England!!, this time around the task for him will be much more difficult.
For another Ton, Ajit will have to wait till India play England or Bangladesh.

Does it need repeating that Agarkar only scored a ton in a test already lost with the pressure off?

Does it need repeating that regardless of the pressure a ton is still a ton and it speaks volume of English bowler's performance!

Besides, Ajit has played many test matches and onedayers when they were no pressure YET his only ton came against England!!:frog:
