I think 30-35 runs more in 5-7 overs after the tea is good enough to declare at a total lead of 375+.

yea in normal circumstances i would agree with you infiniti but the pitch looks really flat and the bowlers arnt getting any penetration

Great knocks by Karthik and Dravid. This series has so far showed some amazing knocks and some amazing turns during the innings. Has surely made by day so far. All I need more is a couple of hits from Balaji/Bhajji and a duck by Afridi.

I am not sure, but the highest total chased by any team in the fourth innings is not more than 375 runs. Correct me if I am wrong.

They will have to score more than 400 runs because anything less would mean Pakistan can chase the target if they bat throughout all the sessions.
I don't know about that. History suggests batting last at Eden Gardens is not easy.
I'd say if India can get say 30 more in 5 overs that'll leave Pakistan with a victory target of 375 off 120 overs -- that should be enough, after that, its a question of how well India bowl.

i would say that the Indian batting order played EXTREMELY well on this pitch..its quickly becomming a minefield...puff of dust everytime the ball lands and Kaneria is spinning it like Warne on a roll......If they had a pace attack that could bowl good cutters, IND would've struggled a lot more.

On that note, i would say that it was an AWESOME innings from Dravid....Kolkata this time of the year is a cauldron....almost the hottest time of the year...... and to get 2 centuries in an innings on this cauldron is no mean feat.......and Karthik batted beautifully......this guy has all the shots on the book and if he works at it, he could become a really really good batsmen.

india's bowling can also someetimes be unpredictable and they can have shockers like the last innings of the last test remember

For PAK to get 300 on this pitch, IND would have to bowl real crappily or pak batting order has to find the form of its life.

I think it was out, but at the same time it was a very tough decision to give in favor of the bowler. They did not show the hawk-eye graphics for this ball.

havent the windies chased 400 down before in the last innings???
Sure they have.......Pakistan would have to create history to win this match from here.
As I said earlier, no team has chased more than 120 to win a test at Eden Gardens.
Of course, the draw is a distinct possibility particularly if the Pakistanis display the same doggedness thy did in Mohali.

Is the pitch really that bad? If so why doesn't Ganguly just declare now and unleash their spinners on them?

I think all Pakistan can do now is play for a draw. But 2 wickets (including Afridi) by the end of the day, and Pakistan will be in deep trouble with Bhajji/ Kumble to make the Pakistanis dance on their tune on the fifth day.

I think Bucknor will have to do his absolute best to deny india. Maybe he will offer light tommorow in the morning to the pakistanis and end the match as a draw

It was 403 chased by India (406-4) against West Indies in 75-76
That record was broken in 2003 by the West Indies against Australia - I think that's what was being referred to.
