Afridi opened pretty well in the previous test match.

Sorry I havent been following this series that closely.. I just think he is too risky. He throws his wicket away far far too much to be a test opener.

If he doesnt open, what number does he bat and who opens with Yasir/Butt/Tofi?

Personally I would persist with Salman Butt. I don't get to see much of Pakistan on t.v. but I saw him bat in Aus and although he seems to be struggling for runs I thought he looked impressive against Aus and showed potential.

Afridi would slot into 6 or 7. At the expense of who? I am unsure and looking at the current line up it would be hard to find room for him so maybe what they are doing at the moment with Afridi opening is the best option.. although I don't like it long term

Hooray for Inzy! His 163* is already the highest score by a player in his 100th Test, beating Greenidge's 149. :)

There were as many as 50 wicketless overs bowled by the bowlers. At least 10 overs could have been given to Sehwag to get a different result. That said, the fielding and field-placing would not get too many wickets.

Great partnership under pressure (7/2 when the partnership formed). 284 run unbroken partnership, Inzi on 169*, Khan on 111* .

everybody should stand on one leg, if supporting Pakistan!!

This pitch it seems is so smooth for batting that they moved domestic games to different ground seeing there was not much chance of a competiton there.

Looks like Pakistan will make 1,000 runs by tommorow

Whtever the Pakistanis can do, the Indians should do better. They don't lack the quality they need to outscore them.

Still, they have to get eight quick wickets. That should not be beyond them if they attack the stumps all the time, or induce edges to slips. One breakthrough can turn the match for the Indians. But where is the swing with the new ball?

While the fielding of many of the Indian players was disappointing, Balaji did not disappoint. He attacked the ball from all sides and threw quickly, saving singles in the inner ring. Even Zaheer has been doing well- he's learning to slide. If he can field so well consistently, he'd be a certainty in the national side.

Did you, by any chance, actually watch the game? The swing was there, Balaji's control, on the other hand, wasn't.
There was no swing from either end- they were just bowling flat, particularly in the closign stages, where Pathan in particular was bowling way outside off-stump.

I just came across this post elsewhere

"Karnataka's first two matches at the Chinnaswamy this season: Draws.

Karnataka's last two matches at the Chinnaswamy... DIDN'T HAPPEN. That's because the wicket was so flat (flat as a television screen) and offered so little to the bowlers that the state board arranged for the next two matches to be moved to a ground WHERE THERE WOULD BE A CHANCE OF A RESULT, INSTEAD OF 700 RUNS BEING SCORED ON TWO DAYS FOR SIX WICKETS.

BCCI can't take a hint, because Ranbir's a politically-motivated [YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO KNOW] who has more interests in the lining of his bank account and how much further he can weasel his way up the political ladder in Haryana. So while even the STATE TEAM refuses to play a Ranji game at Bangalore, we have a test match taking place here, when the BCCI could have taken a hint early in the season after Karnatake made the move, and changed the venue. Given the 11th hour venue listing, you'd think it might have been possible to move this test to Chennai or Nagpur where a result would have been a lot more probable (or in Nagpur's case, certain).

Hats off to the BCCI for another five-star display of sheer incompetence. Now let's have a moment's silence for the averages of all the bowlers participating in this match."
