I daresay this India lineup is a good bit better than Zimbabwe's even when they weren't absolutely terrible.

They're very brittle though. I think you overrate this batting lineup a bit, especially in these conditions; they're good for an absolute shocker or two on a surprisingly regular basis.

The problem that has plagued us for a while is players, especially bowlers can hardly make a comeback given how little red ball cricket we play outside of Ranji due to the shocking negligence of the A program, which is really what led to the great Kohli side for us in test cricket.

This is actually the first I've heard of it, is that really the case? That would explain a lot because India A was absolutely the production line 5-6 years ago; that's where I first heard about Siraj for instance.

Honestly I think it is even worse with Rohit as captain. He is just so visibly off. Bumrah literally did not bother to save a single on his follow through the next ball after the drop, which led to Markram smashing Prasidh for 20. We were always bad at this but I think it has gotten infinitely worse under Rohit. We saw this from around the 10th over of the WC finals too. He just visibly gives up.

Yeah, Ganguly messed with the entire flow just because Shastri disciplined him once and we are now paying for those ego calls. Dravid wanted to spend more time with his kids, esp. his son who is doing really well in age group cricket and was content to run the academy and go on low key A tours coaching the side along with managing the U19 and he had recruited VVS to split the work load. But Ganguly had to make it personal and basically get his team mates as no one else wanted to interfere with the main side.
Honestly, I think 2021 was a logical end for the Virat-Shaz run but it could have been managed so so much better. And Dravid just cant help himself. He loves to experiment and he can also be downright stubborn with certain thoughts and ideas. These things work far better with youngsters and nascent careers and games away from the spotlight.
