Yeah, but Stead is a moron with zero balls who is stuck in the 90's with his mate Gavin Larsen. We're five months out from the World Cup and one of our opening batsman is Colin Munro and one of our opening bowlers is Tim Southee. Our five and six have no power game at all and whoever bats at seven is likely to get carted for 8+ runs an over.

It's a total mess.
What's your XI?

I agree mate, they are definitely a level above. I feel so silly now browsing the Aussie India thread with glee whilst those boys were being thrashed.
We are being absolutely thrashed. Respect to the Indian lads.
Yep, this has been one hell of a reality check.

Sometimes **** happens, especially in limited overs cricket, and especially against teams that are marginally better than you.
Yes. There is no cause for all this gloom. New Zealand haven't played to their potential in this series (so far); but they are still a very good team.
The World Cup is won by teams which manage to play well on a a few specific days.

Agree with this, but today's batting performance followed a script we've seen quite often in the recent past - vs Pakistan, England last year and the Champions trophy as well.

I'm reminded of the old saying, "you can only f#£k with the c0ck your got". We are fielding a great team, but India are just better.

Ok, what about this for a left field XI for WC?

Guptill
CdG (could be devastating in the powerplay - straight bat shots with only 2 players outside the circle)
KW
Ross
Latham
Nicholls
Neesham
Santner
Sodhi
Ferguson
Boult
Yeah I like that. Allows for good flexibility as Neesham/Santner can be promoted if NZ are hypothetically 200/3 or 250/4 and need to continue to accelerate.

I don't think Santner is good enough to bat at 7. He's Vettori-lite, I reckon it's 8 or bust.

Just quietly a genuinely top class opening spell from Boult today IMO. Obviously they weren't pressured into taking any risks so he was never going to get smashed unless he bowled rubbish, but he was accurate and threatening regardless. He's been a bit like Guptill in that his patchy form has gone under the radar a bit due to the focus on fringe players who need to perform to win starting eleven of squad spots.
