I can't properly describe the joy I feel watching root have a laugh about his own captaincy after the match. Bloke was a bang average captain, but losing series after series in the way england did while being locked in a COVID bubble would **** with anyone's mental health. So good that root is able to see the brighter side of things.

Frankly, the way India was playing today, you wouldn't think an entire series win in England was on the line. They seemed to treat it as a one-off test.

New England is really playing spoiler in this round of the WTC - extinguished NZ's faint hopes and just made it a bit tougher for India. SA series will be interesting. I don't think Elgar will crack as quickly mentally as the NZers and Indians.
