You forgot Rahane in there too.
Deserves a chance considering he has outperformed Sharma playing for the same domestic team for so long now and Sharma has gotten chance after chance.
Mukund would be ahead of him too ,as he is a opener and there are not many openers around currently.
And atleast Vijay is not performing this time to that level,or he comes in the same cycle as Jadeja and Sharma.

Yep I definitely did, good call. Normally always mention him when this discussion comes up.
If Harbhajan is rested for the ODI leg of the WI tour - wonder if Rahul Sharma gets in the squad as the second spinner. Has pretty much out-bowled every other spinner in the IPL - has the best ER, period and highest number of wickets amongst spinners. Pretty close to the top of the table in SR and average as well, certainly when you consider bowlers who've played most matches.
Tall, bouncy leg spinner is a good stereotype for India. (Which Mishra, Chawla are not, more classical leggies).

Yuvraj Singh is apparently back in contention for the test squad too and one of Virat Kohli or Badrinath is going to replace Suresh Raina there.
Vijay is going to replace Sehwag in both the ODI and Test Squads.
(Stupid Stupid Mukund for staying at CSK this season)
Though selection of the Test squad is expected later,it is not clear.

Absolutely dire. I want to break something.
Don't get why IPL isn't a good preparation for ODIs, no one's rushing this guy into the test team to think of his FC record etc

I'm disappointed that Parthiv is one of only two openers in the squad. India could have looked for Dhawan or Rahane. It is not wise to have Parthiv opening the batting when he still does not have an OD century in 99 innings and has a modest average. He is not exactly a hitter either, I guess his aim is to score a steady 50, which is not the requirement in modern OD cricket. The middle order is expected to be strong, whatever combination is chosen.
The bowling is interesting, Ashwin and Harbhajan are the certainties as spinners. It is interesting to see Mishra there, he appears to have fallen out of form. I do think it is unlikely that he will get a game, but I think it is interesting that India have once more snubbed Ojha - who I personally rate more than Mishra. Praveen, Ishant, Munaf are all solid options, Ishant has earnt his place with a great IPL and will be good to see Praveen in Indian colours again. Do not expect to see RVK in the final XI, but he continues to remain around the setup - he offers a really steady option and I do think that given the opportunity, he will get some good returns. I think Tests rather than ODIs is his format and if batsmen improvise, they might be able to take him to pieces, but we will see...
West Indian pitches have been very slow, very conducive to spin recently so I think India should go in with...

Some strange selections.
Starting from opening, no openers barring Gambhir and Patel.
Patel has not really performed that well as a batsman and still has his shortcoming as a keeper.
No Vijay or Mukund here is surprising.Could have even given Rahane a go as a opener or picked Dhawan again after Srilanka.
There was talk about Rayudu getting in as a backup keeper *** batsman ,but that slot goes to Saha .Would have picked Rayudu myself as would have given someone with more long term potential a chance.
But think Saha was picked because he will be backup keeper to Dhoni in tests too.
And what does Nohit have to do to get dropped?
He has talent but you cannot keep picking him again and again and watch him fail over and over.
While Rahane who outperforms him for the same state in the same competitions for years now gets overlooked because Nohit looks good in the 20 -30 odd he usually scores.
Like the bowler selection though. Sree is way too eratic in ODI's and i am sure Dhoni would have spoken against his selection again after the World Cup where he publically criticised him and he failed in the final too miserably.
Good to see Vinay Kumar in the squad and Praveen back too. Both may have a race within themselves for the test squad.
Nice to see Mishra picked instead of Ojha too ,as he has bowled well in the IPL and is a attacking spinner and offers something different as a leg spinner and on slow pitches WI may struggle against that.

Btw,absolutely delighted to see Badrinath there.
The man was completely written off ,when he was not picked for the India A tour to England and Scotland.
But since then has done everything humanly possible to bounce back.
His first class season(both Ranji and Duleep trophy) was brilliant averaging 110+(Best in the country) and then from there he upped his one weakness i.e the IPL and scored runs and quick runs there too.
He has literally blasted a closed door open for his selection.
RESPECT.

Parthiv will open taking Dhoni's spot with Gambhir.
So both Sachin and Sehwag's slots shifted in the middle order are open.
Badrinath will probably get one
and Pathan the other with Nohit being the opener backup.And the opening few ODI'S may end up being a race between Kohli and Badrinath and Maybe even Yuvraj for one Test Spot.
Hopefully Badrinath gets it with England tour coming up.
