Truly, only Chris Gayle is cool enough to wear that gear and get away with it.

I take it there has been some discussion in this thread over Mike Holding's comments in England today about Gayle's dispute with the Board? Found them very instructive tbh.

Sucks that we lost but I genuinely feel happy for WI. Obviously meant a lot to some of them, could see it in Sammy and Samuel's reaction after the win as well. Good stuff.

Some ****ty death bowling and bad batting at the start and in the end from India though. Our bench strength is not looking as strong as it does on paper.

People are saying that India were complacent. That is true in part, but there are deeper problems here.

The batting seems to collapse alarmingly when put under the pressure to accelerate in the end overs. And the BIGGEST problem is that there is not one pace bowler who can hit the blockhole consistently.

Poor death bowling is not a new concern to India (haunting since the 90s), but one would have thought that with so much IPL and 20/20 exposure, this art would have been perfected by now. In close matches, this would really come to bite them in the arse.

Lot of these guys are trying to establish themselves in the team and would love all the opportunities they get. Hard to believe they were complacent.

You don't have to be complacent though. Just have the edge taken off by the knowledge you've won the series already can be enough.

I'm pretty excited for the test match at Sabina. Bit of bounce will definitely give the Windies a sniff

Raina getting out slogging every game is slowly getting on my nerves. He hasn't done anything special in this series to steal a place in the test middle order. Will give Badri a chance to play for his career.

A bit disappointed with losing the last two games. My thought when the squad was announced was that our opening was not real ODI class and it has been sort of confirmed. Dhawan looked abysmal and Parthiv cannot convert starts.

Expected Kohli, Sharma and Badri to score loads, Badri disappointed big time. Yousuf also didn't do well.

Good win by Windies, but Kohli's ******** second run and the lower order cost India that game. Disappointing.

Not sure what the crowd turnout would be like for the upcoming test in Sabina. Public loyalties, especially in Jamaica, must be polarised at this point in time. Samuels' gesture at the end of today's ODI running upto Gayle in the crowd was a great symbolic one.

I am guessing that a fair majority of Jamaicans (and Caribbeans on the whole) would be firmly behind Gayle. So, am kinda apprehensive as to how they would react to the test starting on Monday without Gayle. I wouldn't be surprised to see low numbers in the stands. Judging by some comments on cricinfo, tempers are running high. If I were Ottis Gibson, I'd be watching my back.:laugh:

haha it's an almost completely second xi side and tbf they did win the series. And I don't think the likes of Tiwary and Dhawan belong there. Rayudu, Saurabh Tiwary, Mukund, etc are better players imho.

Seriously though disappointed with the lack of focus. Agreed the series had become dead after third game, but you still don't expect elite sportsmen to take it casually like Raina did, that too multiple times. The laxity was evident on the field too.

But overall I believe the experiment was a success, and justified BabuCCI's decision to send in a weakened side. Had it been our full strength or even half strength side, we'd have comfortably won 5-0.

Glad to see some Windie guys put their hands up. Most impressive of those have been Russell, and Anthony.

Come on Windies, give it ur best shot in the tests. Here's a golden chance to give a legitimate middle finger to BCCI.

Lol, you are reading too much into a second string XI's performance ina foreign land. Except for Raina, there isn't one player who has clocked more than 100 games in yest's side.

The side clearly lacked Zaheer Khan skill at the death, and to some extent Munaf's ability to keep it tight, Harby's tidyness and most importantly his batting as well. I really doubt any side ever in history had sent in a squad with 7 of their first preference chaps missing immediately after a successful wc, and sometimes without 9 of them like yest's game. Yet they won it and credit to them.

I think he's extrapolating from the WC though where those issues did crop up multiple times though.

Yeah but I said the bench strength was not as good as we thought it was. Other than a couple of First XI players + Amit Mishra, no one performed outstandingly. Agree with you on Dhawan's selection.

Got bowled out in 47.3 overs, with many batsmen throwing away their wickets.
Gave away numerous extras, overthrows etc.
Dropped catches, missed runouts.
Gave away around 12 an over in the last 6-7 overs, with the part-timers all bowled out.

Terrible performance. Can't say it gives one much confidence for the Tests.

Very good pressurising bowling from India. Ashwin just conceded 1 run in 41st over.

Sarwan's injury came at a very wrong time for the hosts. He was going smoothly.
I hope he's fit enough for the Tests....
Indications seem to be that he was suffering from extreme cramp, so a few days rest might be all that's needed.
