Zaheer was the top wicket-taker for India in the last Test series he played, which was a long time ago. Besides, none of the other regular pacers have done much to keep him out for so long.

While so many want Ganguly to get back to the Test and even ODI side, Zaheer got him out for two ducks in the one match which both played. He's more seasoned than Munaf and more powerful than Agarkar, Sreesanth and RP Singh. Definitely the right choice, if you want some experience in the attack, which seems lacking to many.

What, and I repeat, WHAT, is so wrong with Zaheer that recalling him is a subject of dumb jokes?

Simply the fact that he clearly was far from his best when he last played for India. He did well in his return test but was unimpressive in the final test along with RP Singh and Irfan Pathan. Don't even talk about the ODIs, Zaheer was absolutely pathetic there. If he can shine through the English domestic season, we'll see.

I foresee that india making 215/6 or 7 by the stumps.Yuvraj, laxman and sehwag wasted their starts and lets hope that india atleast makes a fist out of this mess and make somewhere around 300 in first innings.

Can't be that bad. After all, they picked an extra batsman to score more runs.

If that's the case, none of the present pacers should be picked ahead of Zaheer. When Zaheer played his first season, he looked a lot more promising than any of the current pacers in the Indian Test or ODI side. Moreover, in the Pakistan ODI's, he was treated like a useless extra (bowling second-change, four overs as a super-sub) while the juniors were treated like an Ambrose or Walsh. If he's been taking bucketfuls of wickets in the English Domestic Season, he has to be considered.

Damn we're in big trouble now. Can't help but admire Dravid's patience, he's taking 40 balls to go from 48 to 50.

Pathan probably missed out because of his form. I am suprised on the exclusion of Harbhajan...most likely its due to some injury.
Most likely its because they can't justify picking 2 spinners, so the better one is selected.

The Wheel is Forever
God, we suck ***. Good bowling by WI, as well.

So, when do my comments stop being negative, and become pragmatic? I want them to do well, but this defensive team selection was doomed from the start. You think this bunch of sorry *** bowlers (Kumble excluded) can take twenty wickets?

Now, of course, they could suprise me, and if they do manage to take twenty wickets, I will be the first to apologize. In fact, I will change my sig picture to whatever you guys want. We will not take twenty wickets in this test. One or two bowlers might impress (as they usually do), but the rest will hurl a pile of **** as usual.

VRV Singh. What a selection. He's played two odi's, taken no wickets, and given up 8.73 runs an over. What does he get for such a brilliant and consistent performance in international cricket? A test cap, of course. It's the most obvious thing in the world, isn't it? Ironically, considering how much he is unproven, he probably has the best chance of being the standout bowler (again, aside from Kumble).

But today's collapse, though partly the fault of Indian batsmen, was a large part due to some excellent bowling by WI. I think they bowled brilliantly, and some of the deliveries, like the one played by Kaif, was basically unplayable. He played the right shot, but the ball just swung in and clipped his bat.

Absolutely brilliant. I am very impressed with the WI bowling.

See Mr Mxyzptlk, I can give credit where credit is due :). If they can keep bowling this way throughout the series, I will seriously revise my opinion of them.
