*Official* India in Sri Lanka 2010 - Tests

About the pause in the action, probably not something the purists would like too much, but I'm unsure of how this even helps the bowler. Enables variation of pace perhaps, or is it to do with the amount of spin imparted?

Either way, I dont see it as a violation of any rule and I think its become far too much of a batsman's game at the moment to bother with stopping all these bowlers from an action that doesn't really seem illegal.
I think the main point is that they can change their delivery if they see the batsman premeditate the charge down the wicket. Batsmen don't tend to do this much in Test cricket though; it's mainly a limited overs thing.

will be mighty useful against a Sehwag, Dilshan or Pieterson for instance.. even in tests.

This is a really good match. I see it going pretty similarly to the fourth match of the India-Australia series in '08, SL hold all the aces at the moment.

Well, I suppose if India can be #1 without winning much outside the SC, so can SL.. I just meant they will never be too far away from the rest of the pack, even though with some of the talent they have, they SHOULD be, at least in this period with other sides being rather weak as well... I just think they don't allow themselves to be as good as they can be.. They just seem to think too much. Sometimes I agree with Ian Chappell.. It is ok to think about the game a bit while playing but taking it too far is always a weakness.. Just go to do the basics right and always look for runs or wickets.. Best way to be a great side IMO..
This cannot be more true really. I don't think anyone at this rate can pull away from the pack, even if England win the Ashes and power through the WC like they did the T20 WC. I think the fact is that, with India hurt like they are now, SL losing Murali, SA relaxing it's play a bit, it's everyone trying to be king of the hill instead of king of the mountain. There's not a strong no. 1 right now really, and looking at the sides I think the only candidate is Bangla... er South Africa.

EDIT: Was Tendulkar allowed to bat again? Christ SL where are the wickets?

Well, preying on a batsman's foolishness is hardy 'unfair' on the bowlers part. You're going to premeditate? Don't sook when doing so bites you.

( I know that's not quite what you're saying, but anyway)

Yeah, I completely agree. I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all. I was just pointing out the advantage of it; not saying that said advantage was in any way unfair.
