Yeah it makes no sense. The Woodcock situation with NZ is even more ridiculous though - at least Tahir wasn't actually eligible for South Africa up until now, so they couldn't select him until this series. New Zealand had four years to prepare for the World Cup and they didn't play Woodcock once in that whole time - they picked him in the World Cup squad, and they still aren't playing him in the ODIs against Pakistan.
Yeah, as far as secret weapons go, Luke Woodcock isn't the most likely of them.

On the note of mis-selections, can West Indies really afford to be holding a grudge against Samuels? But let's not go off topic here.

How secret is he after about 250 games as a professional cricketer?
Not much.

But usually teams are a bit circumspect for the first time when they face a spinner.
India too can be dodgy against spinners, the first time.

I don't neccesarily agree with it ,but there is a logic.

Besides they have to play Botha with no Kallis around and probably do not want to play 2 spinners.

Is Samuels back to playing domestic cricket?

They are playing two spinners in this game. Tahir just isn't one them.

Oh!!

Didn't realise that.

Then they certainly seem to be keeping him as a surprise type of weapon.

Will be interesting to see whether they play him in the Warm up games before the world cup,as i think they won't be facing teams in their group.

Harbhajan bowled so well in the last few matches but his line seems to be poor today...

Well, well. Wish I was watching this. Our piechuckers keep delivering though I keep doubting them.

This was probably discussed earlier, but why isn't Tahir getting a run? Are they intent on debuting him at the World Cup? Or are they afraid that he'll make his selection for the World Cup look foolish? Or am I way off base, and he's injured?
Yeah, you'd think that they'd want to get Tahir into the side for these 2 games. Given they're playing against India, there's a chance he could get belted, but you'd think Smith would want a look at him so that they can plan for how to use him in the World Cup.
