So excited for this to start.

Missed most of yesterdays play.. would have been heartbreaking after having South Africa 6 down.

Lets hope Sehwag gets going... quick fire 50 is all we need from him.

Praveen Kumar. The question is not whether he's test-level atm or not but rather whether he's better than Ishant or not. The answer is a clear yes, IMO.
Praveen Kumar is just another medium-pacer. Would you consider him as a prospect to keep for a period of five years in the Test side? Ishant looked the part, until he fell away so much. Praveen may end up in the same state as Ishant a lot sooner, and even his lower-order runs may not save him.

Out of interest, who are the sky commentators covering this match? Every stream I find has the budget ten cricket mob (or whoever they are).
By commentators do you mean in studio analysts?

Because all channels are using the South African Supersport Stream.

Pankaj is a good prospect. Selectors giving him mixed signals is very annoying.
Pankaj is massive, has loads of (mostly Ranji Plate) experience and chips the wickets regularly, but, like so many others, he's only medium pace. He hasn't faced too much of India's top domestic cricketers yet. Will he last in the national team over a long term? It seems unlikely.

Ishant atm is a bowler who is extremely expensive with both the new ball and the old ball in most matches and when he does bowl well, Takes only a tail wicket or two. I expect PK to bowl well with the new ball or keep it tighter than Ishant at the very least. Anyone who doesn't give away 35 runs of their opening spell with the new ball will do tbh.

Of all the bowlers who should probably be given a chance ahead of Sharma (and Unadkat, lol), Pankaj is probably the oddest case. They put him in the squad, and never played him. Then he got dropped - his drink-carrying must've been unacceptable - and was surpassed by several other mostly random bowlers, despite performing well domestically the whole time. Did he piss in Dhoni's Gatorade or something? It's not even like he bowls slow mediums.

You are talking as if the players in the first team currently are express pace.

And as far as pace is concerned would you swap Zaheer for Mohammad Sami due to pace?
