Yeah I don't know if I dig the Dravid being dropped idea, he has only failed this series, while he was superb in the West Indies. Dravid has performed in the past year on many occasions, but Tendulkar has been failing for a long time, and I mean long, apart from this series ofcourse.
Where he averages 33.16, Shaun Pollock averages more though as you say considering he could hardly buy a run last year, that's good going...

Agreed, but once again, he has played a few good knocks. He wasn't anything special, but he did look better than he has in the recent past.

Lost a bit of respect for some people in this thread to be honest. I can very much understand being angry at events, but the reactions of the seven-ball over sum it up for me. Miscounts of the balls in an over are not a rare event, and although this occasion had dramatic circumstances, it`s part of the human element of cricket.

I`m guilty of over-reacting more than a few times, like in the 2005 Ashes series, and generally everytime Bracken gets hit for a run. However umpires are not biased, and make mistakes with their decisions. But guess what? It evens out. Sometimes you will get decisions going your way, and how much better will it feel when you`ve taken the bad gracefully?

Statements like "Rauf should go to hell" really dissapoint the faith I have in humanity. He is a man doing his job, and if he screws up often enough, he loses his job and the money and status that go with it. I can not see why, those things in consideration, Rauf or any umpire or player or groundsperson would not do their job, something they`re talented about and passionate about, without doing it to the best of their ability. I understand people are not perfect, and can become complacent, which is frustrating when you have no power to change it. But by basing a person`s worth by their performance in a cricket match, you are degrading yourself.

We are grossly blessed people to be in a position to enjoy a game of cricket, more often than not howand when we want it, let alone having food, shelter and safety. Never forget the millions of people who would give it all just to have a few seconds of our lives.
Bit surprising that this post was ignored for the most part. I can't speak for the others but when I make comments like "getting raped now" or "Rauf you ****ing dolt", it's purely in the heat of the moment and I always spice it up a bit to show my true feelings about it (rather than "Rauf you're a bad umpire"). Obviously, I don't hate Rauf as a human being because he's just doing a poor job as umpire. I do agree that there have been gross overreactions in here though.

Same for me, it IS purely in the heat of the moment.

Btw, adharcric you were gonna tell me what Ganguly said...

Which Singh?

RP Singh definitely should not play test matches for India atm, and neither should VRV really, but I can see why one would play either of them ahead of Irfan. But ahead of Munaf? No way.
RP Singh is a good fielder. VRV Singh is poor. I'm not sure about Gagandeep. Either way, fielding should not be the primary concern - if Munaf is one of the three best quicks we have, he should play. Yet another ridiculous overreaction in here; Munaf was being praised so much before this test and now that he comes in and doesn't take wickets in one innings, he's a harmless bowler who can't field or bat either and should be sent back immediately. Pathetic.

Well, for mine:

Anyway, not saying to get rid of Munaf. He's clearly hurt. But he needs to get his act together in the field. It was a disgrace that Karthik with full pads was outrunning him 2x.
Which is a true statement. At full fitness, he still needs to get his act together. You can hide 1, perhaps 2 people. But it really starts to hurt you after that.

This series has really been a bit of a return to the bad old days in terms of Indian fan reactions, after an extended period of much more reasonable discussion. It's actually made the official thread pretty annoying to read at times. Being frustrated by umpiring is one thing, dedicating half a thread to complaining about it is another.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to tonight. Despite all the doom and gloom from some quarters, it's a game in the balance which either team could win. Kumble was bowling hand grenades before stumps last night when he was around the wicket, and the left handers are going to have hell against him on the final day. There's a real chance for Smith to play a career-defining innings too, if he stays in. Great captain-batsmen stand up in situations like this. South Africa can win if two batsmen stick together, but an early wicket or two and they'll be right up against it. I'd call it 50/50.

Well said.

I said to myself when watching that there maybe some fanfare on this forum but the reactions are hardly surprising. Considering some people have a complex where only Indian cricketers are seemingly on the wrong end of decisions and if it wasn’t for umpiring error they would have drawn in Durban. Which is ridiculous when you think that if it wasn’t for the weather they would have gone down in three days. India had a rough day today with the umpires but its hardly like South Africa have had it all their own way, just ask Herschelle Gibbs whose received a shocker yesterday which easily could cost him his test career.

To paraphrase Dileep Premachandran at Cricinfo, India dug their own grave.
Umpires have been blamed too much in here, but please don't suggest for a second that things evened out with regard to umpiring. India got 10-15 just like that Gibbs shocker.

I would call it 50/50 but this batting lineup is too deep and Pollock has been taking us apart, so I'd have to go with 80/20. At least it won't be a draw and we'll get a definitive result one way or another, which is a good thing.

As for Tendulkar, he hasn't made big runs for India in a long time but he has looked better in these tests than he has in a long time.
This would be a terrible time to consider dropping him. If he doesn't score in England, let's think about it.

Best post to never get a reply. Patrick speaking from the heart. Well done sir.
