Whatever it takes!!!
He has very limited scoring options v spin. It's why he gets out very often even in Lois to them.
Which is surprising coz he never really struggled for scoring options against anyone through his career. His idea of being on the front foot compulsively and cutting out most risks has left him like this. Hopefully giving up the captaincy frees him up at RCB and in turn adds more arrows to his quiver when facing spin especially.

Kohli definitely lost his capability to milk spinners around for singles gradually in the past few years. That's more why he gets stuck I think.

Even Tendulkar didn't used to sweep extensively but later on developed sweep shot & mastered it later in the career. Helped him a lot. Of course Talent wise he was on another level but shows you have to innovate with time. Kohli is very rigid with his thought process

He is the only batsmen among the major ones around the world who bats so much on the front foot too. All of this was a response to his 2014 England failures. He went to England and succeeded playing very differently in 2018 but now that is just bogging him down everywhere, I feel. Hopefully Dravid can unlock something for him given he went through a similar patch back in 2007/08.

Ball impact looked very dodgy imo.
Thats where there's room for manual manipulation or interpretation and thus need for improvement.

I am sure they input the impact point themselves by 'choosing a particular frame' for impact.

If they happen to choose a frame which is fraction of second later, by then, in Mayank's case, the batsman has moved towards off and is more in line with the stumps. So obviously using that frame as the impact point, far greater chance of ball hitting the stumps. Just using this as an example. For all we know it might have been the right frame chosen.

I counted at least 2 balls where he should have cut Maharaj. If it was rahul he definitely would have. Lack of scoring options on the back foot is also why he has some trouble in England imo.

Actually Mike Atherton in his analysis showed why Rahul was succeeding this time in England.. Played a lot late & instead of cover drives he played a lot of square drives. Kohli just drives too much in the V. He is committed to the front foot way too much. Goes towards the ball rather than playing late. Very weird tactics to say the least.

since that series, he has scored 254 vs rsa, 123 vs aus, 136 vs ban, 139 vs wi

i doubt whatever change he made for eng is the issue

probably a mental thing

Well, I think almost all of those were at home or in Australia. Both places where this technique will work when you are in good form, which means you have a few more single options and are also willing to open up with respect to strokes. As he has gotten less runs, he seems to have given in more to this search of perfection and being in the right position for every ball and playing each ball "correctly". Basically lost his instinct to score runs which was the really good thing about him, ultimately.
