Smith was dropped about half a dozen times in that Pune knock too, still an incredible innings.People rarely remember them. Smith got a hundred against Pakistan at Gabba last year and was dropped when he was on 60 something. He was also out caught behind earlier in the innings but no one heard it and Pak didn't review.
Pretty sure Tendulkar was dropped or was out and was not given against South Africa in 2010. It's considered one of his best knocks. No one remembers. It all balances out in the end.
These are just the one at the top of my head.
Drops happen to everyone, you just tend to notice it more with "big" players because obviously they're much less likely to give you another shot. Also why people say the "rub of the green" tends to go with sides on the ascendancy too - nah, they just give you fewer chances. No one really cares if you drop a few catches if you're creating 25-30 chances a game anyway.
