1 wicket down in the morning session and you would say it's been a good session for the batting side..but then you realize it's still 76/4

They have done well to lose only one wicket in light of the quality bowling attack they're facing, however, conditions for batting look good, the bounce is true, albeit a tad steep at times, there's pace in the wicket and the ball isn't doing an awful lot. In normal circumstances as a batting side you'd be looking to bat all day and score at a decent rate without too much damage to the wicket column, that's going to be so hard for India to do today.

He really has. He's kept it very simple, he's not been suckered into playing anything away from his body, he's waited till the bowlers have gone too straight and worked them through the legside. In order to do that he's had to remain very patient, and technically sound in keeping out the many good deliveries he's faced.

And you didn't even mention the most important of all - if he played in the LO formats and had LO feats. There's generally no adulation reserved for "Test only" players in SC. Dravid would not have adulation had he not had a great World Cup 99 and played over 300 ODIs.

Or do the selectors just not think they are in the best eleven at the moment?

Ashwin prefered over Jadeja plus Jadeja has some fitness concerns

Dhawan over Rahul owing Dhawan's 2017 form and possibly coz Kohli likes 'aggressive' players

Rohit over Rahane has dominated this thread quite a bit. Check it out

Pujara will be so disappointed with that aswell, it has seamed appreciably and he's just followed it and done just what he avoided in that first session by feeling for it. Maybe he's just not quite switched back on to full capacity for that first ball.
