Yeah. India concedes a 50-60 run lead. India bowl well in 3rd innings with Ashwin 5-fer. Target of 220-250. Lose by 50.

We could have won with better selections. :@
Don't see India bowling SA out for 170 or 180 in the third dig if they concede that big a lead. I can see SA piling on plenty in a pretty attritional sort of way.

I don't think you could have won with better selections tbh. You could have brought Rahane in, but he's just as over rated as Rohit Sharma. The only difference is he's over rated by people here instead of Cricinfo commenters. And regardless of which quicks you picked, they are always going to be exposed as mediocre as time goes on. Principally because that's what they are at test level. Pujara's wicket was a killer for India. Bloke was crucial in those circumstances.

Burgey, as a cheating aussie I'm afraid you're not allowed to post in this thread. Harsh please look into the matter.

Just more ethnocentric bias here, with Burgey thinking that just because he is Aussie he is somehow welcome to post in threads that have nothing to do with Australia. As though his cricket insights are so valuable because he's Australian.

Where is BW to put Burgey in his place when we need him.

This has a lot to do with Australia because we play SA next.

Besides, an India-SA series has nothing of the gravitas of an Ashes series, and is therefore open slather for all posters.

When did gravitas`s meaning change to boring and uninspiring?

Such an odd career. Has very similar Test stats to Mitchell Johnson but whereas Mitch was often a matchwinner for Oz (of course mixed in with some shockers), Morkel hardly ever has been the decisive factor in a Test. Has he ever won a MOM award?
I've found one instance, but he shared it with Steyn as they both took seven wickets in the match: 4th Test, England tour of South Africa at Johannesburg, Jan 14-17 2010 | Match Summary | ESPNCricinfo

It does seem that other than that whenever he's taken a bunch of wickets it's either been in a losing cause or one of the batsmen has made a big score and got man of the match because of that..

We have had exactly two semi substantial batting performances so far in this series. Let's not get carried away here.
Naah, a couple of selections can totally change a match. Case in point England bringing in the second spinner in 2012. We have Ishant in the first test. Shami/Bumrah don't leak so many runs (as one of them is not playing). Rahul/Rahane gives you a little more runs. They score a little less than they did. We score a little more than we did. Even if it's not a win the margin gets a lot close.

Similarly here with Bhuvi we concede a bit less (as again Shami/Bumrah don't leak as one of them won't play) and then since he is not a complete tailender we score a bit more.

Not sure why Pandya's walking down the track to play a forward defense to a guy who's 6'5

LOL did Kohli take a second on the overthrow after running so far back while celebrating, that's such insane game awareness.
