Dhoni plays spinners well in these situations. I remember against Australia in the first test this year he came in with India in a spot of bother on a turning pitch and just counter-attacked and got quick runs. It looked risky but he has the game for it.

Unfortunately here there's also Steyn, Philander and Morkel to deal with :( Only chance is to try and still be in when the deficit is removed, because he's not going to hang around. We've seen enough of him to know that.

He is a threat, and he might even get a little luck... couple edges over slip.. few good shots, then boom, india lead by 2 with 5 or 6 down. Rahane looks like he will stick around.

Yeah this is one of the odder batting for draws in that runs actually do matter here. Obviously the main thing is batting time but Dhoni actually getting runs here helps Indias' chances for a draw.

Morkel is always expensive in these situations. I don't completely understand why he is on.
Well you only really have two bowlers completely worth bowling in this situation and they can't bowl all day. Kallis is probably a better idea at this point actually, tbf.

Is he 100% fit to bowl? Seemed to be grabbing his hamstring at the end of his innings.

Yeah not sure. Hasn't bowled yet in this innings at all but I'd be surprised if he didn't bowl for fitness reasons unless he literally couldn't. It's not like they're protecting him for his next Test.

True. And I probably should never assume a bowler not being bowled is injured again after Shami in the first test.

Jesus switched on thinking play was about to start and India had lost three. Kinda hope these two can put up a decent partnership and leave the Saffas a tricky chase. Because I've **** all else to do today.
