***Official*** India in South Africa 2013/14

I would say SA has a real chance now. I guess for India the hope is the pitch will deliver something unplayable soon enough and perhaps that SA will go for the win and lose a couple of wickets. Reckon it's time to bring Ashwin back when there are still just enough runs to play with.

Shouldn't go down the defensive route unless there are less than 100 runs to play with and SA still have frontline batsmen to bat with.

We're on a 8-match abroad losing streak anyway, might as well lose the 9th if we don't win.

India can't waste this opportunity to get to 1-0 up IMO. I'm usually pretty defensively minded, compared to the rest of CW anyway, but if India only draw here I reckon they'll get hammered in Durban. The opportunity to go 1-0 up is worth so much in the context of the series; it's worth risking losing for even if this partnership goes for a little while longer.

They have to go all out attack because even with defensive fields this pair can easily manage 4 an over or whatever's required. They need to break the partnership to both win or draw.

India don't even need to go defensive, they just have to stop trying to ball magic balls which invariably end up as pies.

We obviously go for the win here, I can't believe anyone would suggest otherwise.

Zaheer unfortunately hasn't produced the goods today. Bowled some good deliveries as he always does but even Sharma was more accurate.

Well, India do here.

South Africa on the other hand should really just be focussing on saving this and backing themselves to go on and win the second Test. If the win's there for the taking then sure, but I'd not push for it.

It's really 20 runs too much.

What do you want him to do?
I don't need him to do anything, I'm just saying that the point that a fair few of his runs recently have come in much easier situations than this is a perfectly valid one, and this knock doesn't change it that much.
