I agree with Sanz. Dravid may have the best technique in the Indian batting line-up, but he's too vital to expose to the new ball every game. The 2nd innings showed that. When you lose Dravid in the first over, it just demoralises the whole team.

Its a big dilemma, but IMO someone needs to be dropped to allow an opener in. I don't think India needs to play 5 bowlers against England at home, because I think Harbhajan should be in the team with Kumble, Pathan and another seamer. That means a middle order batsman needs to go for Gambhir or Jaffer.

Well, Dravid should make a decision whether he wants both Ganguly and Yuvraj in the middle order or he wants one of these two and an opener. It shouldn't be that tough because Dravid is not an opener, he is our best batsman and his ideal position should be No. 3.
I'm sure a decision will be made after this match.

True, Dravid should not open if he doesn't want to. As you say, he's too precious. But it was definitely in the best interests of the team for him to open in the 2nd test.

At the same time, I don't think Dravid will be or should be opening in the next series.

Pakistan should have a third-man for Razzaq. Wasting runs, even if you have a lead of 600 odd, is never good.

Good 50 from Yuvraj. He's got 51 from 45 balls, and has hit 11 boundaries. He's just come out and gone bang!

This is a good partnership, I just hope one of them doesn't go out. Yuvraj has already given a few chances.

192/5.

Yuvraj once again playing a gem of an innings in an attempt to delay the inevitable. 76* off 83 with 14 boundaries... All that remains to be seen is how long Dhoni and Pathan hang around with him.

Man I still had a glimpse of hope for a draw when Ganguly and Yuvraj were going. Then first ball after tea Sourav is caught LBW by Razzaq. :(

And Yuvraj, stop pulling the ball straight to the fielders on the boundary  Lucky Iqbal dropped a sitter. Yuvi deserves a ton here. He's batted beautifully.

Yuvraj dropped by Faisal Iqbal off Razzaq:
42.5 Abdul Razzaq to Yuvraj Singh, one run, short one banged in, Yuvraj
goes for the pull, there's a man out in the deep, perfectly set
trap, Faisal Iqbal spills the straightforward catch! Yuvraj Singh
gets a let off.

Curses... drat and double drat...

if India lose, Pathan's hat trick in the 1st over of the test would be the most unimportant hattrick ever imo.

That`s why this Test is one of the best ever IMO. Pakistan were screwed over, completely. Although the first two tests were draws, India were quite on top for a lot of it, Sehwag especially. Inzy and Malik are unavalible, so Pakistan are in even more trouble. And after being 30-odd for 6, Akmal comes in with help from Razzaq and Akhtar to produce an amazing innings. Then Pakistan`s bowlers get India out for less then their score, with Asif the new-kid doing the damage. And then they go beserk, and now India are fighting back slightly. Beautiful game.

it......is.....over, Pathan gone now. All that is left to do is to see how much more Y. Singh can get.

He deserves a century by the looks of things. Reminds me of Freddie against South Africa at Lord's in 2003, fast-paced rearguard action. Brilliant. :)

Weird to see india still going for a RR over 4.5. You're trying to hold on for nearly two days and you play it like a one-dayer...Pakistan is setting traps on the boundary ffs!

Surely they should have closed the shop a loooong time ago Atherton-style.

Razzaq has certainly comeback with his bowling after looking bad early both innings.
