*Official* India in Pakistan Thread

I am surprised you guys are getting carried by this match. Practise matches are always irrelevant. If you look at the Aus tour practise games, you would think India is the worst intl team. I doubt whether they would take the same kind of risks they have taken today in a pressure match

Exactly Vishnu. We all know that the batsmen are good. It seems that they are out to have some nets today, just going by the way they seem to be playing.

I mean, how often do you see Tendulkar out bowled to a sweep shot? Or Laxman playing all over one?

I think the priorities are a) Do enough to win the game convincingly b) get everyone a good 10-15 overs in the middle c) Evaluate pitch conditions and try out batting plans.

In that order.

I'd be more interested in how the bowlers perform. Looking forward to that, especially with the likes of Umar and Nazir in the Pak A side.

Also would like to see Kartik given a good spell with good field settings.

Dravid looks in awesome touch. 335/6 is a pretty good score.

Although I was a little disappointed with how Kaif played. He left all the big hitting to Dravid -- I don't think being an accumulator cuts it in this batting lineup. Not when you have Gavaskar and (to a lesser extent) Badani, who can do the big hitting with the accumulating.

For an allrounder 29.58 with bat isn't bad.
Not bad, but his bowling isn't as good as it was, so he's by no means one of the top rank of all-rounders (Kallis, Pollock, Streak, Flintoff, Gayle)

I am concerned by Ganguly's form. I didn't really follow at Aus vs. India series but was his form good or ordinary?

First ball got scored for a four. We are in for some fun.
Another thing I find encouraging is the crowd. Your normally don't see these many people even in a test match in Lahore who have turned up for a practise match.

Beleg, I assume you're watching the match?

they're not showing the practice match. Can you update us on how the bowlers look? Do they seem to have their rhythm going? How quick are they bowling, how much turn, swing, movement are they getting?

Yes, I am watching the match. Guess only PTV is showing it, hence the pitiful commentry.

Basically Imran is going for everything, be it outside the offstump or waist high. He just slogged Balaji for a four over square leg.
Balaji to me looks like a intresting prospect. Similar to Mohanti, who one played for India.

Zaheer is bowling now. Taufeeq seemed calm but even he doesn't seem content to hang around.

Imran is just standing and delivering. He doesn't care if he wastes his wicket or not..obviously the orders are clear.

As for the swing I can't see any visible moment.
Nazir has been rapped on the pad twice, both times by Khan but none were close shouts.
Zaheer Khan I guess is bowling in 130's, even high 130's or he wouldn't have been able to beat the bat twice.
Balaji seems ordinary paced, just above Zia.

Boy o Boy, I said we'll have fun and we ARE having fun.
This Balaji got timed through cover-point, smashed through Mid-off [Cross-bat] and slogged for six through Mid-wicket by Imran.

Atleast he'll get some respite from Taufeeq Umer who's content to play the second fiddle.

Zaheer Khan is definately the better of these two.

Sorry for the tripple posting but Zaheer Khan obviously lacks Match practise. Three times he has bowled wides which have went for four byes.

Balaji is getting excellent tap and Nazir isn't afraid of moving down the pitch. A bowl or two ago Balaji bowled a no ball which I think [Personally] Nazir edged.

You know the idea entered my mind...maybe, just maybe A team might even beat the Indians!

wow, this is embarassing.:O

I think Pak A have a bloody good chance of beating India. I assure you, there aren't any better bowlers coming up, and RRR is only about 4.9 with 9 wickets in hand.

One of the guys needs to do something special to bring the match back.

150/1 off 11.1 overs!! Just read through the Cricinfo commentary. Sensational stuff and ominous for India's prospects in the 1 day internationals at least.

Sorry, Swervy hadn't posted when I first sent this.

wow

Pakistan ---- 157/1 in 12 overs....

If this is the look of things then boy ohh boy we are up for a great series...

If India blows this match after posting 336 runs... I bet they dont have a clue what pressure they will be under for the rest of the series.

Why are you so desperate to see your bowlers getting r@ped at the hands of Indian batsmen???

Just to give you some idea of what is instore for Pak team, right now Sachin and Sehwag are hammering Pak a team and have scored 131 runs in just 16 overs. I veymuch doubt if the result would be much different against Pak ODI team.

Sorry aajaagarkaar... but your above quote just cracked me up big time....

perhaps thats why elders call patience a virtue than jumping the gun and ridiculing yourself ...:)
