had to love the epic mexican waves.. and everytime it would stop at the same place on the other side of the stadium... everyone give them the massive boo's... then the one time they did it the entire place gave them a massive cheer

there was all sorts of **** getting thrown up in the air during the mexican waves last night.. paper.. banners.. beer.. chips.. cricket helmets

:laugh::laugh:
Mexican waves are ****e I'm afraid. Especially at what was a bloody exciting game. They're only acceptable if the game is absolutely turgid. People who do the Mexican Wave need to grow up.

So, the squad is announced for the first three ODIs. Got to feel for Styris here.

The squad is: Daniel Vettori (captain), Neil Broom, Ian Butler, Grant Elliott, Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum, Kyle Mills, Iain O'Brien, Jacob Oram, Jesse Ryder, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor

The New Zealand A side for the second four-day match against the England Lions.

The team is: Jamie How (captain), Brent Arnel, Daniel Flynn, James Franklin, Peter Fulton, Chris Martin, Jeetan Patel, Aaron Redmond, Ewen Thompson, Kane Williamson, Reece Young.
McCullum
Ryder*
Guptill
Taylor
Elliot*
Broom
Oram*
Mills*
Vetorri*
Southee*/Butler*
O'brien*

That is a f*cking strong batting lineup, with a lot of bowling options.

Swap Styris with Broom, and that is probably full strength

Indian team for the first ODI guys?

My team would probably not include Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan or Rohit Sharma and this is the team I would play with.

Sehwag
Tendulkar
Gambhir
Raina
Yuvaj
Dhoni
Jadeja
Praveen
Harbhajan
Ishant
Zaheer

are we a nation of utter pansys now ??? have we turned that soft ??

Leadup to the 6pm news.. main news item bout how we won the cricket in a last ball thriller ??

Nope its "New Zealand Cricket will increase on-ground security for the upcoming one day matches against India, after a bottle was thrown onto the field during last night's Twenty20 international in Wellington."

Honestly.. lead item is that one empty plastic bottle was thrown onto the field...... precious as @!#%

Its going to be great to see Tendulkar play, and he will be a great scalp for some of our younger bowlers.

Agree with this, even though Broom has played a couple of handy innings of late, those innings have been incredibly streaky.

I've also still got reservations about Southee

My side would be ..

McCullum
Ryder
Guptill
Taylor
Styris
Elliott
Oram
Mills
Vettori
Butler (N McCullum over Butler if wicket's likely to turn)
O'Brien
Agree with this side the most of any posted. Leave the batting order more or less as is and Styris in for Broom. Butler just edges out Southee though wouldn't mind if they persisted with Southee - one of those ones where they could either continue with the slightly inferior player as an investment in the future, or just choose the guy who is more likely to contribute better in the short term.

Haha, I remember the Auckland 20/20 against England, there was a lot more than one bottle thrown, and some of them still had drink in them (I should know, one burst open right in front of me, got soaked). The English deep fielder didn't seem to mind, he just tossed them back over the rope.

If only Bond was allowed to play & I'd say NZ would have about the best one-day bowling lineup in the world. Imagine that, Mills & Vettori (two of the top 3 rated in the world), Bond ( who was in the top 5 before being ICL'ed), then a steady Oram & a much improved O'Brien in support. Even Ryder & Styris aren't the worst as a 6th bowling option if needed. Anyways, we'll never see Bond playing for the BC's again, so hardly worth pondering :sadwalk:

I was there.. it was a AMAZING game to be at.. atmosphere was amazing.. noise during the game was incredible.

That is absolutely idiotic stupid article... are people really getting that soft ??

"Play was halted briefly towards the end of the New Zealand innings after a plastic bottle was thrown from the crowd on to the ground close to an Indian fielder."

a news article bout how ONE bottle was on the ground ???

Ps i was bout ... 8 rows back from where this happened.. there was a fat guy who would not sit down.. so a "Sit down u fat !@#$" chant started.. and he wouldnt.. so someone threw a bottle at him.. missed.. and it landed.. 15m from a indian player.. so play was stopped.

I went there with 4 others.. 2 of them hated cticket.. however they thought the entire game was great and exciting and will be going again..

2020 may not be for everyone.. however that game last night was the most people i have ever seen at a cricket game in wellington.. and the atmopshere was like nothing i have ever experienced :D

Anyways here are a few pics taken with my phone from last night.

excellent pics there .. good mate./..

Seriously...have the selectors just forgotten about Styris or something? 6 months ago he was our best ODI batsman on the tour to England, and now it's like he doesn't exist.

I just sense that Tendulkar will have a ordinary tour with what had happened till now... I think this tour will be very similar to last time he toured NZ.. may be he will score 40-50 runs extra than what he scored last time around.. But if he can score and help India to win the ODI's,,,it will be memorable series of his career for many reasons..

But being a true Blackcaps fan, I think NZ bowlers are more accurate on these grounds and it will be tough for Tendulkar at his age now to go after kiwi bowlers..

Styris was our greatest allrounder but he was out-of-form/touch lately. that made selectors neglect him..

Moreover, I think we have Ryder in place of Styris who can do what Styris can do....

In odis you have to beat the batsman and get wickets in not like t20 where people
get out trying for big shots,This newzealand attack may be accurate but all are similar bowlers.i do not think india will have much of a problem in odis if the pitches are flat.
