I wonder though if the decision to leave out MOnty was an implicit admission that the Indian batsmen have his measure.

Let's face it...he's been pretty ineffective this summer and his ODI record doesn't inspire one with confidence.

Its easy in hindsight to say that they should have picked him after watching Chawla and Powar bowl well but you can maybe understand the reasoning why England didn't go with him at the start of the day.

Anyway, good game for me and I actually think England have the makings of a pretty decent ODI side.
I do think Freddy needs to open the batting though...coming in at 6 he'll more than likely have to face the l;ikes of Chawla and Powar and I can see him losing that battle more often that not.
I do think FReddy will be of most use to England at the top of the order where he can take advantage of the powerplays and the ball coming onto the bat.
