***Official*** India in England

The Wheel is Forever
I'm still in Test mode, but here are some interesting comments from Strauss:

Strauss: The angles India bowled took us by surprise. I'd never had a left-arm fast bowler bowl round the wicket at me before, and swinging it both ways. It demanded a completely new technique.

Strauss: As batsmen we found Zaheer Khan hid the ball very well from the top of his bowling mark. There wasn't even a glimpse when he raised his bowling arm and occasionally he flipped it over in his hand between then and delivery. Even as the non-striker you couldn't see which was the shiny side. At Trent Bridge when Vaughan and I were batting, we were trying to help each other out but couldn't pick it up.

If Zaheer can keep that up, he'll be quite useful going forward.

Didn't Wasim Akram do the same thing quite effectively?

I think Dalrymple seems to have gone downhill quite fast lately which is a shame. Someone like Snape would have been alright if he was younger. Going by stats I'd have to consider someone like Graeme Swann whether you like him or not.
I've got nothing at all against Swann nowadays - I was even touting him for the SL tour a few weeks ago. tbh I'd just forgotten about him last night. Plus I have no idea whatsoever how successful he's been in List A games.

(re last time England had 2 tons in an odi) I think Nasser Hussain and Marcus Trescothick against India in 2002 Natwest Final 2002.
Nice call, but I've since discovered it's happened a few times since then - Tres & Solanki vs SA in 2003, Strauss & Flintoff vs WI in 2004 and Strauss & Collingwood vs Bang in 2005.

He has a pretty good record, one of the best economy rates in the FP Trophy this season which the mighty and awesome Durham won a few days ago.

Oh and I meant generally speaking about whether people like him or not. I know a few people don't like him. He was pretty unlucky to miss out with the Twenty20 World Cup.

India really need to utilize Chawla's batting ability more. He has scored crucial runs in junior and domestic cricket - many of those have come in tough foreign conditions and he has scored a few tons as well. Sourav, Sachin and Yuvraj are not reliable enough for ten overs with regularity in English conditions. Powar-Chawla-Agarkar-Zaheer is good enough.

Yeah - shocked to see so many people with Powar at #7. Would expect Chawla to bat there if India went with 5 bowlers.

India really need Irfan Pathan tbh, if he regains any sort of form and confidence for the A team he should definitely be playing.
