Whatever it takes!!!
Ya he has got out bowled and lbw a lot of times recently which has been his major problem. A major reason for it has been him playing across on the leg side. Gavaskar mentioned before this series started how great players don't get bowled and lbw the way Tendulkar has been so much in recent times before the test series started. He said that he found that Tendulkar had overcome that aspect in the tour games. However, we did see him repeat the error. He cannot move as fast as he moved before. He cannot bat in the same fashion for 18 years in his career. He batted differently at 16, 21, 28. However, a lot of people make the mistake that it necessarily translates to scoring lesser runs which is not necessarily true. You can see some one like McGrath, you don't even have to go back to Lillee. They didn't have their earlier speed but performed even later.

Look at Tendulkar's wagon wheel from yesterday:

He didn't hit the bigger shots on the leg side partly because England wasn't bowling fuller to him to play those shots and partly because he was in no mood to take risks. Cutting down shots doesn't mean you will score less runs. It means that you have eliminated chances of getting out. Which Steve Waugh would people have? The one which played the bouncers and got out or the one which made more runs after cutting down on playing shots on the bouncers. I don't mind Tendulkar playing less shots if he can secure himself not getting out and scoring more runs than he otherwise would have as a result of it.
I am not sure about lesser runs but I do think it did translate into slower runs.... When his feet was moving well, he was getting into positions quicker from where he could play attacking shots. But now, he is getting into positions juz tat trifle slower and hence the attacking shot becomes a risk and the defense becomes the better option. As I said, he just seems to have reinvented himself as a batsman of this style in tests, and I have no issues with that at all. I think he has batted very well in this match and I don't see how anyone can criticize him for he is only trying to score the runs in the best way he can without giving a chance of getting him out for the opposition.

dunno y you are saying that to me, tbh. I am not criticizing Sachin for scoring his runs slowly at all, def. not in the context of this match. As I said, if someone is struggling even more than him and it is a flat deck and an avg. bowling side, and he still batted like this, then maybe I may find some fault with him, because it is always a team game and one has to look to make sure one doesn't put undue pressure on your batting partner by the way you are batting. But yesterday, he did what he had to do and he was only doing what was giving India the best chance of winning this match AND this series. Hope it was clear. :)

i now want him to score a 100+..........let see how is thread will be after that.
Lol, if he scored 50 and got jumped on for no good reason and high scored for India in the last Test what makes you think him getting 100 will be any different? There will always be people going OTT trying to counter what they perceive as Tendulkar fanaticism, rightly or wrongly.

Yes, there is. "Boringness" and "attractiveness" are totally subjective - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I, for one, completely disagree and found Tendulkar's gritty yet technically near perfect innings much better to watch. I'm sure I'm in a very small minority there, but you can't say there is "no doubt."

Furthermore, it really doesn't matter. He isn't picked to entertain the crowd - he's picked to do his best for the team. He's still out there while his supposedly more entertaining brethren are back in the pavilion shaking their heads at the horrible shots that got them out.
Also, I ask you, what agressive shot can he play to chest high balls when there is a silly fine leg, short leg, deep fine leg and deep square leg in plce.

They're not still singing 'Jerusalem' at the start of each day are they? I thought that was just an Ashes gimmick.

Oh dear God. Another one down.

Was going straight to Strauss at first slip, but the diving Prior knocked it away from him.

england have gotta take their chances.....not that im eager for them to do so or anything...but it is getting rather riduculous,,,maybe its a way of prior saying sorry for the Trent Bridge incidents.

Cue Geraint Jones. He probably wouldn't have gone for that in all fairness.
im sure Jones is quite happy seeing all of this TBH....but why wud Read not be a better choice...i dont actually have an opinion on this...just wnating to know urs.

Shocking from Matt Prior... shocking...

He needs to hit a century at least to make up for the two catches... Can only feel bad for Sidebottom.

Actually I meant cue Geriant Jones and when I was thinking who would have left it I was more thinking of Read actually, I got distracted half way through  honest. No doubt Jones would have leapt at that too.

Oh and I do think Read is the better choice, I was saying the first bit tongue in cheek really.

Edit

Don't get me wrong though I'd love to see Prior make a 100, keep well for the rest of the match and keep his place.
