a) bopara isn't a very good player of spin. Just because he is of asian descent doesn't make him a good player of spin.
b) I don't think there is much the groundsmen can do at this time of year to the wickets to stop them turning. All the wickets on the square are worn and used and dry. Yesterdays game was hardly a massive turner just a wicket offering slow turn.

i didnt say he was a good player of spin becuase he is Asian..He is a good player of spin because he has played a fair bit of IPL cricket in the past and so has faced a decent amount of decent spin..

secondly, the wickets produced for some of the tests certainly were grean and favoured seam. That was only a couple of weeks ago so cant see it changing that much in such a short space of time..

Bopara is just as average against spin as the rest. I like Bopara but he's becoming this god like genuis in his current absence whereas in reality he's an international failure.

the wickets for the tests were produced to last 5 days. the only way they can do that is leave some grass on them. Generally for ODI's you don't want a green seamer. You want runs scored and entertainment for the fans.. Trent Bridge for the test was a slow low horror wicket as well.

you're right in that he has failed at this level in the past but imho, he is the best option for a replacement, in terms of a batsman that CAN play spin. we will have to agree to disagree lol.

England have always been overall an average one-day team. They don't care about the form as compared to tests or even T20. India on the other hand makes sure one-day Cricket will always be around since there were criticism that the format should be abolished last year. India are good and love one-day Cricket as compared to tests which they clearly lack interest and skill in.

They'll probably drop Stokes now Durham have started their 4-day match with a threadbare XI.
Totally irrelevant if they drop him or not as he's still going to remain in the squad.

Complains when Durham players get ignored.

I don't really care that much about England right now, Moores will be lucky to survive another year, until he's gone England aren't going to get anywhere.

So all he's done so far is **** around with Stokes who would be better off playing meaningful games with Durham after he was dropped for two guys who took two wickets between them in two Tests but for the last two deliveries. And he still didn't pick Stokes after that. Moores is absolutely clueless, he leaves Bopara out of an ODI squad and brings him in for a T20 match. The guy whose strike rate just scraped past 100 with his trademark facile runs - he's useless when it matters.

Stokes is far from one of the best 4 English seamers so if he isn't scoring runs then he has no place in the Test side.

Other players missed Tests and didn't get to play for their county either but that is just the way the fixture list works and you have to accept it.

Except he's been comfortably one of the best performers in the Tests he's played in. Woakes and Jordan had not.

Players missing FC cricket because of Tests is one thing, missing quarter finals when they could have been released is another. They're named in an eleven where it was at worst equally viable someone else played - who did not have a quarter final to play in. See Stokes/Root in the 2nd ODI. You have Finn, Moeen Ali etc.

Moores just does not have a clue. I'm not sure who is less inspiring, him or the wheelie bin. I don't think he's quite as dull and cliche ridden as Giles, but they're both the sort of inoffensive no-hoper England would have brought in the bad days of English cricket.

I'd not have Jordan ahead of him if he was fit but you keep failing to acknowledge that he wasn't fully fit and the side was winning games so keeping them was justified.

As for the idea of leaving players who are deemed to be first choice internationals out of games in order to play for their county in a relatively meaningless game, that's total bull****.

Stokes out for Gurney. Can't wait for Scaly's reaction. Ridiculous that Tredwell has been dropped though, should play both him and Moeen.

Should have only been 1 change to the batting line-up. Bell out for Moeen. Not too fussed about Stokes vs Gurney. Gurney's done well in his short ODi career, so isn't the worst selection. Stokes has also had a poor series so far. Dropping Tredders is just stupid though.
