English people don't seem to be into cricket much. Yet to meet an Englishman who follows cricket at all. (Speaking from a sample size of about 5).

England has always been an average ODI team. I agree definitely that Bell and Cook should not be playing ODIs for England if England truly want to become a top ODI team.

I hope England are good enough to expose some of the weaknesses in our ODI side. Most Indian fans seem to think we're a brilliant ODI side with hardly any weaknesses. Couldn't be farther from the truth.

Think Bell is a pretty good candidate for 3 to be honest. If there is a good start he is decent at the middle overs game to consolidate on the start made and he's spent plenty of time opening.

Cook is an issue, he was in imperious form in all forms when he took over the captaincy and at his best he can score briskly enough; but whatever you make of him at the moment (getting runs without being at his best in the Tests, etc.), he's not hitting the ball or moving about the crease as efficiently as he'd like.

Most Scots who are fans of cricket will support either India or Pakistan, depending on their heritage, or will support England.

Majority of Indians I know, which is a bloody lot 30+ family plus friends lol almost all prefer ODIs to Tests. And when I went to India same thing there majority prefer ODIs. They all watch Tests but just prefer ODIs not going to change.

If there is a whitewash which there wont be but if there is I know a lot of Indians will be over the moon. My phone was bombarded yesterday with happy texts after just 1 win

I barely bring myself to watch ODIs unless its a World Cup. I mean obviously I want England to win, but certainly my least favourite of the format.

I've said this before, but if India want to pick a part time spinner who bats at 8 in test cricket then Suresh Raina is a better option than Ravi Jadeja.

Jadeja is way more gun than Raina on the sub-continent, so I'm not sure where ur getting that from. It might be a closer argument overseas, but I'm not sure I'd want Raina to be batting overseas in tests either.

Neither of them are anywhere close to being India's best spinner, so theyre playing as allrounders. If it were up to me neither of the would play but Raina is just straight up the better cricketer; better batsman and would do an equal job with the ball.

I'm not sure there's a batting lineup we could find that would compensate for our bowling. It's been a heck of a while since Anderson was as good a we'd like in this format, and Stokes & Jordan just looked piss poor today. wadr any argument over Cook, Bell, Ballance & Root vs Vince and Taylor is shifting deckchairs on the Titanic. Not that it's stopping Swann sounding like a stuck record on the matter on TMS.

Over the last 2 years 21 matches 39 wickets at 19.56 econ 4.39 s/r 26.6. At number 3 in ICC ODI rankings.

Others who'd be as good as or better than Jadeja as 2nd/3rd spinner batting 8: Sehwag, Yuvraj etc etc.

not saying he's a bad ODI player or anything, it's just that he's not a batsman and he's not a bowler.

LOL which bunsens are these? The only pitch that could be considered an out and out spinning wicket would be the 4th test at Delhi against Aus. Outside of that he played the other 4 test matches prior to that on typical Indian wickets (except for Nagpur which was a total crap pitch altogether). Jadeja is not a frontline spinner overseas, that is the only legitimate point that can be made against his bowling. But lets not pretend that he's not a test bowler. He's good enough to dent batting line ups at home, and he can do reasonable holding job as a 5th bowler/second spinner overseas.

He just shouldn't be selected as a spinner ahead of Ojha, Mishra, Ashwin etc and shouldn't be selected as a batsman. Even at home there are better bowlers and better batsmen; it doesn't make sense to select him.

So pick Ojha, Mishra or Ashwin. Not Suresh ****ing Raina as a bowling all-rounder.
