Not sure if I've misinterpreted you but I'd say Cook falling 18 short is more than 'just' missing out - it's hitting a 50 in each match, not 50 across both innings.

If Root goes on with it in the morning then you can throw his hat into the MOtS ring too

I think he meant he just missed out in the sense of him getting 4/5.

Wait, it's fifty across both innings? Assumed it was registering a half century in every test.
Oh dear I really have confused the thread..........you're right, it is a half century in each test, not 50 across both innings.

That's arbitrary, what if MSD scores 99?

I'd give it Bhuvi already anyways. MSD's been poor with the gloves and his captaincy has lacked (as usual).
