Gambhir's basically had one period in his career where he was a decent opening bat but for the most part he's been pretty dire with a technique laughably ill suited to opening.
Yeah I agree. He was similar to Ganguly. Not very stellar technique but a tenacious batsman.

also agree with cook that anderson is the most skilful in the world, when theres some swing around and he's in the zone he's near unplayable. some of his spells in india with the old ball were amazing

shame he's just nowhere as consistent as he should be and lacks the pace to worry batsmen when conditions don't suit like steyn does
