You can't judge a bowler at all unless you watch him.
I'm judging him based on what I've seen before.. To say Ashwin is a completely rubbish bowler is stretching it a fair bit imo. He needs to be a regular in the indian side.. at least replace Jadeja but he is likely to contribute with either bat or ball if not both during a test.

Kinda curious who is, actually. Cribb?

So that was rapid.
Probably Jono, i think. Though for him he comes after Kohli ofcourse.

Daemon as well IIRC ? But he had plenty of backers though they may have reduced. :p

Look, I don't rate Ashwin at all but he's so obviously a better bowler than Jadeja that it's not funny.
He needs to perform better than Jadeja with the ball then.

Not only abroad, but Jadeja has even outperformed him at Home for the last 1 and half a years or so. He's actually improved as a bowler.

Ojha is better than both for these conditions, imo as a bowler alone but he loses out in terms of performances at Home and lack of batting.

Talk of Indian batsmen being weak vs off-spin since 2011 makes you wonder what would've happened if a 2000s Murali was still playing...

Don't think anyone is saying Jadeja should continue to be picked, just that pretending that Ashwin isn't ordinary is weird.

Benchmark00 was Rohit's biggest fan on here actually since like he first came onto the scene 4/5 years ago now ?

Anyway, he is talented and notched up lot of FC runs recently. Needs to be backed for a decent run in the team.

Amazing stuff, honestly it's a massive turn-around from England, but it doesn't even approach the turn-around from Oz recently.

We're certainly living in uncertain times which is pretty fascinating.

He has been ordinary overseas, but I think he is a good enough bowler that if he is given an extended run away he will figure out how to become effective. He is already a matchwinning bowler at home.

Also this is why 5 Test series are awesome. People have mentioned Bhuvi being tired - this is the prime example of how a 5 Test series just pushes you so much more than a 3 Test series.

All this makes for such gorgeous dissonance between the plight of Indian cricket on the field of play, and the domineering BS practiced by its board behind the scenes. If only countries had the balls to kick the BCCI out of competition..sigh. Imagine what manner of open face surgery the Australians are going to perform on this sorry lot come year end. MOAR 5 TEST SERIES, PLEASE.
