Would take Moeen off here and get Broad on here. Excellent spell of bowling though, on a pitch that isn't turning much against some good players of spin. Very promising.

I missed the whole afternoon session.

I wonder what was said in the dressing room?

Also, James Foster to solve keeping and captaincy issues and bat at 8.

It's nice to have your support, but that has been suggested on these forums. Foster or Read, anyway. Both are legitimate test number 8s, both are better WKs than Prior and both captain their counties. Perhaps the fact that Read is making runs against 1st Division attacks is relevant.

Meantime, India are building a respectable score without any serious pressure from our attack.

Now we're seeing the problem with the rubbish that was served up this morning. Despite the batch of wickets after lunch, there are still some decent bats left to capitalise against tiring bowlers with an old ball. Whereas if they'd done their job in the first session, India would be long since all out by now.

When was the last time we actually made good use of the new ball? We completely wasted it at Leeds, which cost us the match and the series. Ditto here, quite possibly.

Pitching the thing up has brought wickets, so Plunkett decides to bowl half way down the pitch. Again. Genius.
Yeah you should use a 70 over ball just like a new ball clearly. They will begin to pitch it up again in 8 overs when they take the new ball.
