*Official* India in Bangladesh

That's now two Bangladesh batsman with a highest score of 96*.

So dire that in 15 innings by Keyes his highest score is only 33.

Tricky little session coming up for India, hopefully Bangladesh can pick up a wicket for the games sake.

Decent recovery from Bangladesh that. When I fell asleep they looked like getting <100.

I'm sick of hearing how talented Ashraful is. It's the standard line for anyone who swings the bat every delivery and looks absolutely clueless.

His dismissal was genuinely hilarious. 51/4 and he charges, doesn't get to the pitch of the ball and still has a swing.

I don't mind coming down the track but keep your eyes on the ball, FFS.. Has so much stroke making talent and yet wastes it every time!!!

No, he is ridiculously talented, I think that's undeniable. His hand-eye co-ord is as good as any batsmen I've ever seen, just look at the two innings in the summer of 2005. But he's got no head and plenty of technical flaws with his game.

You don't score a hundred on Test debut against Muralitharan aged 17 (?) without being exceptionally talented.

I don't see why Ashrafal is playing. The batting stocks aren't that bad when he can't score runs anyways. Faisal Hossain, Naeem Islam and Nafeez should all be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Can't the BD selectors see that they need to pick a couple more bowlers to strengthen their batting?

The circus clowns playing at 2-5 need to perform their act one more time this series, but surely they've given us a few records already as BD have scored:

89-5 & 242 all out
135-5 & 301 all out
52-5 & 233 all out

Talented by what standards? Obviously it takes a lot of talent to bat at this level at all, but he's not remotely talented by test standards. He's less talented than about 99% of test batsmen to play more than ten tests, I'd say.

Batting talent isn't the ability to score a hundred, it's the ability to score hundreds regularly. I see no talent watching Ashraful bat, and his hand-eye co-ordination looks terrible to me. Barely any of his shots ever come off the middle of the bat, and that's reflected in his test average. There are bowlers who bat with a similar carefree method and have a better average than he does. He's being outbatted by his own lower order ffs.

But "stroke making talent" is defined by most as how pretty it looks when one of them does come off the middle of the bat, so Ashraful fits the bill.

Should just bring back Aftab Ahmed. :)

International Coach
Tamim Iqbal, Shariar Nafees, Rajin Saleh / Aftab Ahmed, Alok Kapali, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmadulah, Shakib Al Hasan, Mortaza, Abdur Razzak, Shadat Hossain, Rubel Hossain would be the ideal line up. Saleh is a good stayer at crease and Kapali is ridiculously talented. Possibly the ICL ghosts may be still haunting them.

There was seamer named Tapah Baisya who was a very gritty performer. looked easily the third best BAN seamer after Mortaza and Shahadat. Another ICL player BTW.

Ind has two restrictive spinners playing. The ones who try to tie the end up and wait for the pitch to assist them to be wkt taking. Hopefully the pitch will crack up for them to be effective .... You can't have two such spinners in the playing 11 and none if you are playing just one spinner

Hard to believe Mishy was dropped. He does bowl a lot of bad balls but in b/w balls some wkt taking balls on most surfaces. That's what you pick a bowler in tests for, i.e. ability to bowl wkt taking balls

Let's hope UV does justice to faith shown in him by Dhoni. Overseas, he only averages 25 since 1 Jan 2008

Aftab is pretty much just a poor man's Ashraful. I like Alok Kapali but he's scored nothing domestically since his return. Rajin is a gun though.

The domestic season has only just started, but Baisya has taken a swag of wickets in the 2 matches he has played. No idea how he actually bowled though.

I am not convinved that Kapali would be that great an option but I'm really keen on Saleh to come in. I also wouldn't drop Ashraful yet, unless a complete overhaul has done.

Ashraful still scored more runs than anyone from the top 5 yesterday, his 39 is higher than Imrul Keyes highest score after 15 innings! Also he probably deserves to be retained ahead of Raqibul too, although he is probably a bit better than his record indicates.
